Can someone briefly explain to me how you do it? What ritual or whatever you go through from start to finish? Do you repeat a mantra or just concentrate on your breathing?

Please no jesus comments..that's not what I am asking

I can explain how to sit in the Zen style.

First, stretch a little bit. Then sit crossed legged on a cushion so that your weight is on your knees (mostly). You should sit facing a wall, about18 inches away from the wall. Place your left hand in your right hand and touch the tips of your thumbs together. Shape your hands kind of like your holding an egg. Keep your backbone straight and your chin tucked in. Let your muscles hang loose. Look down at the wall at a forty five degree angle.

Your mind is in the habit of having thoughts. When a thought comes, don't indulge in it. Let it dissipate, like clouds in the sky. Don't judge how good you're doing. There is no good or bad, you just sit. It helps to concentrate on your breathing. Try to let your lower belly relax.

I've just briefly explained how to do zazen (concentrated sitting). It's very simple, although it takes practice. When you do zazen, your doing exactly what the Buddha did. It's a great thing.

At first it was difficult to master but after time passed I can turn inward anywhere in a split second. While annoying people are talking to me, on the bus, etc. I turn my attention inward and count my breaths for a few seconds and I am gone. I can come back in a second as well. For me, no ritual. It is nice to meditate on the flame of a candle in the dark however. It makes it easier. Just look at the flame, wipe all thoughts from your mind, until you are one with the flame and nothing else exists.

The method I use is to chant the Mantra "Om mani padme hum",with a string of prayer beads, or "Dharma beads"! I like to start each morning by doing either six or eight rounds, depending on how much time I have! This is only one method, however-there are many others, which you may want to try, such as mindful breathing, visualization, etc!

As an ex-Buddhist, I can tell you that you will be inviting spirits into you, by opening our self, you will have a false sense of peace. I know you don't want "Jesus comments" I am just wanting to let you know what will happen with you go down that path. No Fun, trust me!
