Braceros. Mexicans allowed in to do those jobs under licence. A century before that, it was Chinese on the railroads and navvies (Irish largely) in the East.

real human Americans did the jobs. there are no jobs that people don't want to do, the mexicans come here and undercut the pay scale for that job, then Americans don't want to do it because they cant make enough money.
if you got rid of all the mexicans, you would have people lining up to do those jobs

Probably 'americans' did the work 'that americans won't do' or whatever...I can't speak for anyone else, but I distinctly remember being knee-deep in mud, cowshit, pigshit, and working on dark and stormy nights and getting blisters and sunburn and muscle aches and the whole business normally associated with semi-strenuous outdoor labor.
I think 'jobs that americans won't do' is just another moth-eaten,
non-load-bearing piece of extremely shaky rhetoric
that would do just as well to be taken out of print at the earliest possible convenience...let's cut the crap. Mexico needs to stand up and solve its' own problems, here. Why should America be Mexico's welfare office? Why should America be anybody's welfare office, for that matter? **** em. They wanna live like it's 4th century or whatever, fine by me...not my social obligation to teach people to read, or not to out-breed their lands' capacity to support people, the door to progress is always open to those that seek to enter, it's called 'a book', and it can teach you how to take a barren, dry piece of dirt, and convert it into rich soil that will yield lots n lots of food for you and your family. That's a form of wealth, right there. And, there's other books where you can learn to like, build stuff, like houses for yourself and your neighbors, roads, hospitals, schools, etc. But, ya gotta wanna.
I think america as a country has ZERO obligation to take care of Mexico anymore. We've done it for years and years and years, good money after bad, to be rewarded with drug gangs running our streets, more and more poor piling in every year, what's REALLY going on, here? I just hope that our legislators wake up and figure out what's going on...

One more time everybody sing.....There are no jobs Americans won't do, there are no jobs Americans won't do, there are no jobs Americans won't do, if you'll just look around you'll see that it's true!
Many of my family and friends have done 'jobs Americans won't do'. We work in restaurants, as cashiers, in factories, motels, etc., and generally moved up into management after a while. We mow our own lawns, clean our own houses, and watch our own or each other's children. I do not know anything about these other Americans that you speak of.

Many Americans did them. There are no jobs Americans won't do. I am sick and tired of that lie by our traitorous Bush and his cronies.
