Here's a hint on how to get the answer:

1. Figure out what are the basic tenets of Christianity. What does it mean to be a Christian?

2. Open your history book and see what people have done in the name of Christianity.

Without a doubt Christians have inspired the most tolerance, which I think means that through Christian messages of loving thy neighbor and forgiveness no matter what have inspired people to not only accept people and other ideas that they don't agree with but to live with it (not to discriminate against people , but keep a door open to them just in case the people that are being tolerated decide to change their actions) ALso I think that he says Christians have been the most intolerant of all men because at the same time there are Christians that think their way is the right way period. This causes them to pass judgement on other people and the judgment itself leads to snubbing and disapproval of people they don't think are right. For example, some self-proclaimed Christians don't want to have anything to do with homosexuality, psychics, gambling and such because they deem it morally wrong, while other Christians are open about the same things and aren't as strict. Well, if Christians actually followed the mantra of WWJD ("What would Jesus do?"), then they would be loving of all humanity. Jesus did not preach hate, violence, or intolerance. He preached love and peace. He hung out with the poor and downtrodden. He said turn the other cheek.

BUT throughout history, people have used the Bible as their authority to commit war and atrocities against each other. Think of any of the Holy Wars, the Inquisition, or anywhere we preach hate of another group of people because they're not "Godly."

If we truly believed in WWJD, then we would love each other unconditionally and try to help everyone become the best that they could be.

it means that the Christians thought that they inspired the most tolerance, but as it turned out, the Christians are the most intolerant of all people. They are Hippocrates, saying 'you have to be tolerant' then going and being intolerant.

Of all religions you would think the Christians would teach others tolerance, but it appears Christians are the most intolerant of all others.

This is a statement that Christ, the ideal and model of Christianity inspired and challenged people to be the ultimate humanitarians...forgiving and kind, even to mortal enemies.

Voltaire evidently observes the weakness of humanity in many Christians is the opposite. -A very sad view.

Christians are "SUPPOSED" to be the most tolerant...but they are the most intolerant. Pretty much says it all and it's still try today. Think about it Jesus said to love and accept everyone....is that what "Christian's" today stand for?? Don't think so....think of gays other religions, ect.

Means they simply judge badly whatever doesn't meet their standards. All through history christians have been the most murderous in the name of christ, burning "witches", destroying whomever believes in other god that is not the Lord.. etc. And nowadays no christian I've met tolerates other beliefs. They label you a sinner and that's that.
