my boyfriend has had his phone on contract for a while and has upgraded recently.its a 3g k800i, unfortunally he has just lost his job and is unable top keep his contract.is it possable do you think that if he changed his sim in the phone to a pay and go on a different network can the handset still get barred?

It depends on the contract. As for barring the phone, that's a possibility, however the network will probably charge an outrageous fee for breaking the contract and unless he pays it they will likely list him as having an unpaid bill making it difficult to get service from another provider. The best bet is to go to the network and see if he can get his old phone back. Talk to the network provider, maybe they can work something out.
