This sounds so silly... but when she is pushing the cuticles back and pushing around the edges on my fingernails and toenails it HURTS!!! bad enough i want to say STOP! haha. really, is that normal? On the other hand, I love them and I can't believe I never discovered these things until I was 25!

butthead, good point... it only hurts WHILE she is doing it, not later at all. in fact, as soon as my feet are back soaking they feel good :)

After reading most answers, I realized I needed to clarify some points... I do not have acrylic nails on... The lady has been in business for 20 years... and I have been to three different people and they all hurt... :) but like I said, only while it is happening, not after. Thanks everyone!!! XOXOXOXO

When I get a manicure or a pedicure I find it kind of hurts when the manicurist or nail technician pushes back my cuticles but not bad enough to say stop. You could try ask the person doing it to be gentle while pushing back the cuticle ?

They use a chemical and also soak your feet and fingernails so the cuticle is very soft and it is not supposed to hurt. If it is hurting you need to make sure they know it is and let you soak longer or use more softener. Also, you may be going to long between sessions. Between these sessions get yourself a manicure set and push your cuticles back after soaking in soapy water yourself. Spa days are to be enjoyed while you are pampered, not painful.

Well I can tell you that if you soak your cuticles they are a lot softer and then easier to push back. I push mine back all the time and it doens't hurt...I usually just chew at them anyways....It's gross..I know I know....I have never got a manicure...mostly because people percieve this as gay and I mean think about the word..Manicure....it's like something women do to cure themselfs of a man's crap....! Oh and your really hott...and I love turkey!...Have a great day!

It should hurt a bit because she is shoving cuticle around and if you have sensitive enough skin it will hurt, but don't worry about the more manicures and pedicures you get the less they'll hurt.

It should never hurt. A good manicurist will never hurt you, and you should be able to close your eyes while they work and not be able to feel what they are doing. If it hurts, try to find somewhere else to go, or ask them not to push the cuticles back.

if it changed into me, i'd imagine about what they (your acquaintances) favor to do. Birthdays are about giving to boot as receiving. :D. So shop the plans as they are, they arrive to yours for a meal and birthday party, then you actually all flow out and visit the attractiveness pal. it will mean that the nighttime is damaged up with diverse activities which commonly is extra ideal. possibly make the birthday party start up in the previous or perchance a noon mealie rather of a nighttime element i imagine 9.30 is too late for the party to start up, this would must be an exception to the relatives rule! start up it at 6pm, devour at 7pm, then flow out and visit the alluring superstar after that. it will must be somewhat supply and soak up this challenge in the different case your acquaintances will sense awkward. you're the host to a celebration, and also you need to be accomodating. in case you impose regulations on the time, and elements the effect that you dont favor them to leave, you acquaintances will sense undesirable and wont be comfortable

I first got acrylic nails done when I was 30. Managed to deal with the discomfort with them,

What is really painful was when I went to glassfibre wraps. They use this spray on your nails, and it feels like hot needles are being shoved under the nails.

I've been getting my nails done for over six years, straight, and it doesnt hurt me. But, when my mom went, she said it hurt her. My mom has diabetes and i believe that contributed to it. It could also be that around menstruation time, you could be more sensitive. Or, it could be that your nail lady is rough, or just not a good nail lady. It should not hurt so bad that you have to complain about it, so that means it's bad!

Yes that is normal. I would suggest you push back your cuticles yourself everynight after your shower/bath while they are soft. Then the manicurist won't have to work so hard and it won't be uncomfortable. Of course, some manicurists just love to torture clients..especiall the men! Godloveya!

You SHOULD be able to feel a little pressure on your nail but not pain... the pain is more than likely your cuticles tearing and that can lead to infection... I don't get pedi's because the little "baths" they put your feet in can have other peoples foot fungus and other crap in them---eww....
