Because I'm a woman and wearing a towel and a robe is unacceptable attire in public.
Although I've seen some women come pretty close to it on casual Friday at the office.

Where did you get the idea that Jesus wore a turban on his head and that he wore a long robe? We simply do not know what his attire was. Whatever he wore was the accepted clothing of the area and time period in which he lived. Following Jesus means listening to and putting his teachings to practice in our lives.

Maybe because Jesus didn't say dress like me...and because not all of us live in the armpit of the world that is the middle east. And what makes you think he wore a turban? That's an Arab fashion statement, not a Jewish or Roman custom.

Yep, you think that Christians should dress like Jesus. Please remember there have been two thousand years of progress since the time of Jesus. Great improvements have been made. Inventions that boggle the mind have been made by Christians and Jews.
Only the Muslims are stuck back in the dark ages. Because they believe in the teaching of Mohammad, they think they have to dress like him ,and remain in the dark ages forever. An example, name one single thing that was invented by a Muslim.
They use all the goodies invented by those that they criticize, but they don't have the brains to come up with a worth while invention of their own.

I like the rolling stones, but I don't dress like keith richards.
"following" someone doesn't nessecarily imply dressing like them. If that was true, we'd find a lot more postmodernists wearing tweed suits and smoking pipes, like Derrida.
I think clothes are more of a cultural statement and have little, if anything(?) to do with "following" the teachings of a person.

If we follow him it doesn't mean we have to dress like him. Where did you come up with this idea?
