Virgin safer... below are probs Incidents and accidents Wikinews has related news: Virgin Atlantic jet fire investigation finds faulty wiring in A340 fleet On 5 November 1997, after numerous attempts to shake free the jammed main landing gear of an Airbus A340-300 G-VSKY failed, the aircraft made an emergency landing at London Heathrow Airport. The aircraft sustained major damage to the undersides of engines 1, 2 and 4 which made contact with the runway surface during landing. The runway surface was also damaged and several runway lights were broken as the right main landing gear wheels broke up during the deceleration. The aircraft was evacuated safely, with two crew members and five passengers sustaining minor injuries during the evacuation.[41] Airbus A340-600 at Tokyo-NaritaOn 8 February 2005, onboard an Airbus A340-600 aircraft (G-VATL) en route from Hong Kong to London, the fuel control computer system caused a loss of automatic fuel transfer between tanks. The left outboard engine lost power, and shortly after the right outboard engine also began to falter until the crew began crossfeeding fuel manually. The crew diverted to Amsterdam, where a safe landing was made. The interim accident report made four safety recommendations addressed to the primary certification bodies for large transport category aircraft (EASA and the FAA), advising on the need for a low fuel warning system for large aircraft.[42]

Virgin. They are particularly good with children. However, BA Club Class is probably better than Virgin. Some years ago, flew BA (Economy) to JFK and the in-flight service was very poor. I went to their office on 5th Avenue to complain and received a free upgrade for return flight! Economy and Club are chalk and cheese.

BA is much better in economy class. Virgin's economy seats have no legroom and the person in front's seat reclines too far - crushing your knees. Virgin's TVs are notoriously bad too - in any given row of three, you can guarantee that at least one seat's TV won't work.

In business class, both airlines are pretty much the same. Virgin used to have the friendlier staff - but not anymore. The beds are fairly good in each.

As a frequent flyer myself, I would stick with BA - but only because their check-in staff are usually more helpful (in allowing me to change flights, move seats, check in extra baggage for free etc.).

Definitely Virgin. They serve lovely food and their in-flight entertainment is excellent. I've never flown long-haul with BA though!

I've flown to and from US twice-- once with BA and once with Virgin.

I swore I'd never fly BA again --they were absolute crap in every department whilst virgin were probably the best I've ever flown.

Food space attitude totally better.

VIRGIN!!!! They are SOOOOOOOOO much better. Personally I think BA have gone right down hill. Virgin take care of their passengers that little bit more. They have the edge on the little things that make a difference!

Definately Virgin. So much more friendly, it turns the flight into an experience.
