Becuase rottweilers are loyal, big soppy dogs. Yeh yeh, everyones heard about what has happened over the past few days with rottweilers. They have a natural guarding instinct and nothing should be done to encourage this. So what do these people do? Make them guard dogs, don't socialise them with people, leave a baby on its own with two large breed dogs? Would you see that as an intelligent thing to do?
If you don't like it, talk to the neighbour. How do you mean it gets on your nerves? does it bark? if it does call environmental health or a local rescue. Or move house.

Dealing with inconsiderate neighbors is a nightmare. First, try asking them nicely. Make a video tape and show them how annoying this is. Offer to split the cost of having the dogs surgically debarked or getting bark collars. Personally, I'd move before I'd live next to a neighbor like that, but sometimes that's not an option. I have a neighbor who goes to work early and slams his car door shut outside my window every morning. I've padded the glass with those closed-cell foam mats they make for gym flooring and keep a noisy fan or wind machine on while I sleep. That helps a lot.
Killing the dog is ridiculous and cruel. The dog is bored and lonely and doesn't want to be outside alone any more than you want to listen to him barking. It's really not the dogs' fault and killing a pet dog is a felony in most states, especially if it's on your neighbor's property. Bad neighbors are big on retaliation. If you kill his dog, who's to say he won't burn down your house? And his next dog might be worse. If you're intent on committing a crime, kill your neighbor instead. (Just kidding!)
Most areas have noise or nuisance laws - sometimes calling the cops can help, sometimes it can make it worse. Animal control will only seize the dogs if they are abused (ie, no shelter, no water, no food, etc). If you don't mind risking a war, get witness statements from your other annoyed neighbors. If the cops won't help, I'd try calling your local TV station and see if they want to do a human interest story on lousy neighbors. Show them as much documentation as you can, pictures and a log of how many times you have called the cops and gotten no help.
Hmmm... Make an audio tape of the dog barking, call your neighbor (from a pay phone!) and play the tape really loud at three in the morning?

I am going through the same situation! it just upsets me on a daily basis. because i do have a good dog and he acts nothing like this. so we have talked and talked. and now i don't even deal with him we just call the cops every time and this is all because they don't take their dog in the house when they leave for hours at a time and it just sits their and barks until they get home. our biggest problem is that they work 3rd shift and let the dog stay out. so just do what we did talk to them and if they wont do anything about it call the cops! good luck!

You need to try to eliminate the noise from the dog next door, NOT eliminate the dog.
Many dogs are kind, beautiful creatures who provide love and friendship to us. Under no circumstances should they face cruelty from humans.
My suggestion is for you to try once again to have a sit-down discussion with your neighbors to come to a compromise solution.
If that doesn't work, then you're going to need to file a noise complaint when it's at it's worst.

Speak to the neighbors, or if you don't want peace, lodge a complaint w/ the local animal control if the animal is violating any rules. Build a higher fence. Wear ear plugs at night. Move, whatever.
LISTEN!
I just KNOW you didn't mean anything that could be harmful to the cute wittle puppydog. I am a lover of dogs! I will bite you myself if you hurt that doggy!

No. Handle it in an adult manor. Speak to them about the dog. If that doesn't work, most cities have a noise ordinance and you can call animal control or the cops and they will handle it.
Killing an innocent dog who has owners who don't train it is not an appropriate action.

I have been raised with rotts, and love them to death. But people get these dogs not realizing how much work goes into training a rott, don't blame the breed, blame the idiot who owns the dog and didn't care enough to train it properly.

C'mon all you sick, twisted people !Shotgun?Antifreeze?Rat poison??Lord Almighty!you could do what a lot of people on here have suggested , and talk to the neighbors about it, call the authorities , and many other ADULT ways of dealing with it.If you annoy someone, do you think they should come over and "eliminate"you? It's not the animal's fault here, it's the owners who are being irresponsible.

We tend to think of dog training as a series of steps for teaching particular behaviors. To teach a dog to stay in a particular position, you reward her as she remains in place for gradually longer times, at gradually greater distances, with gradually increasing degrees of distraction. Now, this is fine, training does involve teaching dogs specific behaviors with a step-by-step approach. This week, though, I’m going to discuss three mental habits that will not only enable you train more effectively but also make life pleasant for both you and your dog.

Rottweillers can actually be really lovely dogs if they are raised properly.
In answer to your question, dress up as a female rottweiller and try and make friends.
Alternatively you could challenge it to a fight, and show it who is boss.

Don't think about it dude. I had a neighbor, that did that to our other neighbors loud a_ss sheltie and the owner got a toxicology report and found that it was poisoned. I am sure your neighbor knows of your dislike of his dog so you would be Suspect #1 and your a_ss will go to court and may have to pay a fine.
Contact your police department if the dog is truly annoying and go through the proper channels. Be adult about this.
Good Luck!
