Finding a good, safe, babysitter is the hardest thing (at any price). The number one thing you want is safety for your child. So, I'd get word-of-mouth recommendations. If you don't know anyone, I'd ask at a local daycare center if any of their teachers work part-time as babysitters after hours. Many colleges of education have students who will babysit. But you want to get recommendations even then, so you know the sitter is reliable and that it is safe to leave your child with her/him. If you need all day care, call around to the church daycare centers in your area. They have the least expensive, but safest care available usually, because the churches subsidize their centers.
