One of my Brits is getting old....won't have her much longer maybe a year or two....I am interested in getting another dog so the new pup will have time to work with my Brit in the field hunting and be good and trained...I have heard that Vizla's are very good dogs...I hear they are good hunters...and I have read some info on the AKC site and other places on line but I would like to hear about what people who haved owned them think....

Don't get me wrong...I am going to be sad when I lose my Brit but it is easier to train a new hunting dog when they have an older dog to "show them the ropes". She also seems to really like playing with other pups...they seem to bond with her...especially in the field.

I havn't have them all my life....I got one as a pup two year ago and the other..the older one was just soon after that...the owner was moving and could not take her...she was a good dog so I took her in...very good choice...but just never owned any other breed to hunt with so just doing some research....

Visulas are great hunters but some are hyper and sort of busy dogs.
They clean up well after being in the field much easier than the Brittney. They also make good house pets. THey can be somewhat leary of strangers and are good with kids.
A friend of mine has a male and female and I have hunted behind these dogs and they are great in the field.
I like them almost as much as my weimaraners.
You are correct in getting a new pup stated withthe older dog. Makes it so much esier to start a new pup and gives them the much needed help in the field when they are not sure what is going on they can look to the older expert dog for the help. This is how I start my new pups.

sorry to hear about your dog but if you have brits all your life then i would say get another one because you know how they are and what their conformation, and disposition is. you know how they are when it comes to hunting. i say get another brit. but if you don't want to go with that breed again then i would say go with a german short hair pointer. they are good in the field work and they are very easy to train. again i am sorry to hear about your brit and good luck in finding another dog.

German Short Hair. Great hunters and not afraid of the gun shot.
