I keep seeing people say illegals do the jobs Americans don't want. Obviously someone who has their MD, PhD, BS, etc isn't going waste their education by picking lettuce. But I think the millions of citizens living in poverty could use the jobs illegals steal. Don't you?

According to most of what I've seen here these people don't count. At all. The reason our own people won't hire us is because we have rights, and that is extremely inconvenient to people who want to make obscene profits. I'd just like to know how they have the nerve to give all our opportunities away, then tell us we didn't want them and wouldn't take them. Get an education, they say. That's kind of difficult for people who can't even get a job. And the best of our education opportunities are given to the poor poor illegals anyway.

Yes girl you are right. In fact, illegals are mostly taking jobs of African Americans and other low income wage earners. They are affecting the low class even more than the middle class and surely not the upper class. The real ones getting the shaft are the undereducated Americans which typically are in the lower class. If anyone should be mad, it's the poor because they are only going to become poorer.

You are right!! People seem to think that the stereotype of a upper middle class or rich American in a two story suburban home is how all Americans live. WRONG!! We have our own homeless and starving people problem to take care. It really is past time for Americans to start taking care of America!!

Amnesty won't work!! Read your history books!!

It's Propaganda that the media and corporations use to make excuses for bringing in cheap labor.

They are trying to do it in nursing too (hospitals are) by saying that americans don't want these jobs. That's not true at all, they just need to be paid a wage that they can live on and the hospitals don't want to spend the $$$ so they can maximize their profits. So instead they pay lobbyists to try and get the laws changed so they can bring in people who will work for pennies on the dollar.

you are so so so right. send the illegals home.
to the guy on top. in the town i live in yes a 16 year old can get a job cutting grass. so misinformed. but with the illegals coming in, they can't get hired because of the illegals. why pay some one minimum wage when they can pay less to an illegal. and they laugh at us Americans. no the illegals are the ones to laugh at.

There are SOME people who would take the jobs, but others are just too lazy; therefore, poor.

I did hear something about one of the illegals making $13.00 an hour in California. Well, maybe their cost of living is higher, but that is definitely a lot of money. So, those who say Americans won't take the low-paying jobs should tell me what they consider low-paying.

Whatever, for every job an immigrant "allegedly" steals, there's someone else giving that job away. If you have the benefit of (a) english as your native language and (b) an education in the US, and you can't manage to get a job from someone from a third world country who doesn't know english at all, you don't deserve to live, let alone pick the organic lettuce for Whole Foods salad.

Actually, yes I do. The sad fact is that these citizens living in poverty don't want the jobs either. They would rather sit on their @sses at home and not work, living on welfare and social security and unemployment and food stamps. I have worked for the Health Department in Texas, where I would venture to say we have a huge "problem" with illegal immigration. Nearly every person that I met that was receiving public assistance was from right here in the good ole USA. Welfare and food stamps aren't usable in Mexico, these people are here to send money home, so they work hard to earn it. Much harder than most Americans are willing to work, and I'm talking about our "impoverished". I grew up part of a poor family, however my family worked hard, and not one illegal ever stole a job from my mother and father. They just weren't ashamed to work hard for a meager living. My parents never applied for food stamps, even though they could have qualified. They just had their priorities in line. They didn't have to drive around a fancy car, they taught me that it wasn't the clothes that make the man. I was always sickened when I was a child, as well as now, every time I see a person driving a brand new Cadillac and using food stamps to pay for their food. I can't tell you how many times I would see people driven up to Health and Human services in brand new Escalades and Lincolns to apply for government assistance. Not only did my parents provide me with everything I NEEDED as a child on their meager earnings, but they managed to save enough money for me to pursue my college education without having to rely on government assistance. My parents taught me to live within my means, that is the problem with American society, not the illegals. Americans have brought this problem on themselves with their greediness and mindset that the government owes them something.

By the way, no most illegals make more than minimum wage, not much more but more. As for the 16 year old not being able to mow lawns, where are they my 16 year old could use some help. SHE mows lawns in our neighborhood for a reasonable price so she doesn't lose customers. There has yet to be an illegal take a customer away from her, because she is willing to work hard for what she gets. We may be much better off than when I was a kid, but I think it is important for her to learn the value of hard work. By the way, she enjoys what she does. I think she is more responsible than most 18-22 year olds with the money she gets. Most her age would be saving for a car or new clothes, she is saving for her college education even though she has already been awarded several scholarships. She is setting her sights on Harvard, though.

mommato4b...Try picking up a geography book, Mexico is in America. Mexicans ARE Americans!

I agree, there are people who would love to even have a job, but it has been taken by an illegal who will accept way less pay than the citizen would (minimum wage)
