I don't normally wade into debates like this, at least, I don't start them, but this is really getting on my wick. Would all the people saying 'abortion is murder' please stop? Because the law is determined by parliament and the judiciary, not by individual morality. Abortion is not legally considered murder, therefore that is not the correct term for it. Whether you're for or against. Thanks for that.

Whether you're pro-life or pro-choice AmandaB, it's still an incorrect term. This isn't a question on whther abortion is good or bad. What you're saying is linguistically wrong, which doesn't make you look good, so you know.

Mike Crisis and Blue Glue, you're missing the point, I'm not coming out as pro-life or pro-choice here, or saying people don't have a right to express an opinion, it's a point of linguistic error.

Love Birth, I like your answer, but I never doubted people have good reasons for being against abortion. No one seems to have grasped yet that this is about a language problem.

I feel as though I have to say somthing about this. I suppose I lean more towards pro life, but please I think in order to truely be informed people need to reaserch all aspects of the abortion issue. They need to seriously understand what the process of abortion inculdes before they can say anything in reference to murder. Even with pictures and the morality of abortion issue, none of use really can say when someone is really alive. Look at the Terri Shivo case. In any case I have seen pictures, and have been directly affected by abortion, and I personally dont agree with it, but to each his own. The only one who can judge us is God himself, and I certainly am not him.

I understand that you are feeling upset by this term. I am not sure what sparked the anger for you.
It is just that it is undeniable that babies are babies whether in or out of you. People are getting abortions right up until 9 months sometimes. It is called partial birth abortion and is not legally called "murder" because a baby is not considered a person under the law until it is fully born. So when you have a baby and it is all the way out except for one foot, it is not considered a person under the eyes of the law. If someone were to take that babies life at that point it would in most humans eyes be "murder" whether the law calls it that or not. A living, crying baby can be killed while still partially in its mother and done so legally. So I call that murder.
People who love babies and the human race in general know that this is not a blob of tissue. They know that this childs blood never mixes with its mothers blood and by the time you know this child is in you it has a body, beating heart and primitive brain function. From conception its DNA already has the same amount of blue print as yours or mine. It is as much determined to that child what color hair they will have, eye color, etc as your DNA. So please understand that people who are against abortion are so for a very good reason. The baby is a separate entity to the mother. I can appreciate the very fine laws we have but have no problem saying that when a person aborts they in fact are ending their childs life. It is sad but true. I don't condemn them. In fact I hope they gain healing from it and go on to help others make different choices. But people who believe in life, call it what it is.....A baby that is alive and once aborted is now dead.
PS...I know what you are saying about the language problem. You are not saying you agree or disagree with abortion but the term murder because that is not what it is legally called. But I am just saying that we call it murder because to us it is. Whether that is the politically correct term or not. In the eyes of the law we also legally have free speech so that is the grey area. We are exercising our legal right to free speech by using a politically incorrect term like murder. Kind of mind boggling. Nonetheless, we call it murder because it is and we want people to be concious of the decision they are making before they choose to end their childs life....Too many women come in after recognizing it was not a blob for elimination and say "why did someone not tell me it was a baby?" See what I mean.......So politically correct or not, I would rather be honest.

Girl afraid i agree with u all the way. And in correction to some of the politically incorrect responses we are pro choice. We don't recommend every woman in the world to just have abortions. we promote life as well. life, adoption, and the woman right to chose to have a child. We are not murders in the eyes of the law. and if u want to get religious about this then fine but remember the separation of church and state. Save the anger for a more profitable cause like the child molesters or the real murders. Because politically and scientifically you are incorrect about abortion. we are not murders.. we as woman exercise our right to chose to have a child.
Well also in response to the relgious quotes i think if u were truly a christian since your quick to quote the bible then u would also know that judgment is ultmitly up to god so it is not your place to point the finger and judge another and if god is so loving and can forgive then i dont see why u cannot. choose your words wisely because u seem like a religious biggot to me. i always hear that the christians are supposed to be loving, and unconditional but i guess i was wrong in what i heard. But i will not look down on god because of how poorly he may be represented. It is not what u believe it is how u treat people because of what u believe. He who is without sin cast the first stone rememeber>>>>> if im not religious and can feel this way what does that say for all of u.

It is not a legal issue. It is a moral issue. Yes, the law does not call it murder. But, I believe that is it morally wrong, and I do believe it is murder. This is Yahoo answers. If people do not want to hear other people's opinions on abortion...then they need to stop asking questions about it. Any question you ask you will get all kinds of different answers. When you ask a question regarding abortion....you should expect to get pro life and pro choice answers. I people don't want to hear it....don't ask.

i'm atheist besides yet i'm professional-existence for logical and ethical motives. Many, many females human beings bypass directly to have deep psychological issues afterwards. Many greater suitable than professional-choicers might such as you to have confidence. The ironic undertaking is that the left and professional-decision do not furnish lots interior the way of help for those women human beings yet church homes usually do. i be attentive to many Catholic church homes that grant grief counseling for females people who're psychologically scarred with the help of abortions and could additionally pay for and carry out funeral centers for the aborted toddler as the thank you to assist the female income closure. Human fetuses are not labeled as parasites with the help of anybody different than those attempting to rationalize abortion so as that they don't sense so responsible. "fetuses", toddlers, embryo's, in spite of are not parasites with the help of definition they're human. they're portion of the human concern because of the fact all human beings have at one element been embryos and fetuses, they have human DNA and are alive so on the commonest organic and organic point they're human. with the intention to contemplate a fetus a parasite you will possibly could evaluate all human beings parasites. maximum persons be attentive to that it is not genuine and the generic public be attentive to you're taking a human existence (the argument for many isn't any be counted if or not the will of the mummy trumps the existence of the toddler) and for those women human beings they could stay with the actuality that not basically did they take a human existence, they took the existence of their very own toddler. that's a reasonably heavy weight to bear.

I agree with you. Until the government says it's illegal for abortions it's NOT, IN THE EYES OF THE LAW, MURDER. It's very hurtful to those who have experienced an abortion for whatever reason and are seeking help. This site is to help those who have questions, not to persecute those who have already made a decision. This is what I say to most of the posts like this, your job on here is to give informed, educated answers to the question. They obviously need help and it's better to keep them well informed then to tell them they are wrong and they are committing "murder". Inform them of all options, maybe even give them your opinion (just don't be rude and hurtful about it,just because they think about abortion doesn't mean they will have one), but remember in the end it's their choice not yours. You don't have to live with it, they do.

Technically the law IS determined by individual morality..its just the morality of the members of parliament and the judiciary that decides the law. Abortion may not "legally" be murder,,but many people(myself included) feel that it is just that...MURDER! I am entitled to my opinion, just as you are entitled to yours.

I believe in abortion and I think no one has the right to tell a woman that she can't have one.
What I DON'T believe in is abortion after the fifth month. At that point the child is moving and kicking and I classify the fetus as a human child.
Also have to wonder what makes a woman wait that long before she does anything about it. After all, she's known for five months that she's pregnant, why didn't she take care of it sooner? It's not like it's sneaking up and biting her in the azz over night.
