Check system Properties first:
Rt Click on My Computer , Go to properties, ity will pop up system Properties windows, check what SP do u have
(for eg. Microsft Windows XP Home version 2002 SP1 or Sp2 or no Sp)

Now go to this link and first download SP2 from Microsoft website and then we will Install SP2 from safe Mode:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Download the SP2 on desktop and once download is finished see the size of download. It should be 266 MB.It will take 15 -20 minutes if u have hi speed internet.

Now go to safe Mode by restarting computer and keep pressing F8 key on keyboard and then selecting Safe Mode.

Once you are in safe mode, double click on icon on desktop which says SP2 and Install it.

Goode Luck best wishes

Go to Windows Update (click start, highlight all programs, it should be at the top) and let your PC choose which updates it needs. It may not be ready for SP2 yet. When it is, it will appear on the Windows Update page.
