Eight years old and still wets the bed?! Where is the father?
No liquids 2 hours before bedtime and mandatory bathroom before bed.
Take an extremely tough stance on bed wetting including let the leather meet the butt each time it happens and make him strip the bed, wash his own linen and disinfect the mattress. Bet he won't do it again. This happened one time with my mom and it never happened again. My theory has to do with bad habits and RE-training the brain to wake up "its bathroom time" when the sensation comes to void.
The other cause may be psychological related to stress. Children will often regress when under stress. THAT IS STILL NOT AN EXCUSE TO WET THE BED. However, unlike these other liberal clowns (talking about alarms/growing out of it/ putting things in the bed/underwear), my solution helps to assign personal responsibility to consequences. And what does sickle cell have to do with getting up in the middle of the night and using the toilet? NOTHING.

A lot of kids have the bed wetting problem. Under normal circumstances, it's only a matter of the body out growing the bladder and they'll out grow it. Might try waking her every couple of hours and let her use the bathroom.
With yours being sick, this could be a side effect of the illness, or of the medication she's on.
Be patient. Get her a plastic mattress cover to protect her mattress and try using adult diapers at night. I think a small, or if they make them, an extra small should do the trick.

I still wet the bed and I'm 20. So far nothing seems to work. What has helped so that it's rare though is I got to the bathroom SECONDS before I go to sleep.

A bedwetting alarm! It is a permanent cure and will allow your child to learn how to stay dry at night. (no matter how deep of a sleeper she is or how much she drinks before bed). They cost only $70 to $90 and work when used properly. (It is very important to understand how they work.) Yes, they even work with children with sickle cell.

Sickle cell can't be cured, it can only be treated. Talk to a physician about how to treat it.

Just make sure no liquids late. Make sure she pees before bed time. And she should grow out of it. If it happens a lot you need to consult her pediatrician.

it took mine some time to grow out of it.. Ive heard of different surgeries but the ppl that have them young say it didn't help.

See a Dr about it,it may be related to his illness.
