As long as WHO gives written permission? Your parents? Friend? Actually, no store is going to ask you for something in writing (although you may have some problems at certain stores), however if you don't have LEGAL permission (something in writing and with stipulations as to the use of the card) trouble will almost certainly follow if you use the card. And if you use a stolen card, YOU ARE REALLY IN TROUBLE!

Absolutely. The merchant agreement for accepting Mastercard and Visa spells out the merchant risk for taking such a card. They are legally able to deny such use and I can't imagine why anyone would take a card from anyone except the owner. Your written permission is absolutely worthless is that credit card is not good. Merchants take enough risk without doing something that foolish.

You can't with American Express. They're non trnasferrable. Only the person whose name is on the card can use it.

Theoretically yes, but don't be surprised if you encounter problems with some stores.
