I constantly hear the same argument against evolution based on "scientific" finding. Almost all of the information questioning evolution is at least a decade old and most is 20 or 30 years old. It wasn't valid then and it isn't valid now. I have read a lot of the "scientific" arguments against evolution and I have found that ALL of them have been debunked. They have been proven to be incorrect not by one scientist but many. Either the data is flawed or the information has been misinterpreted.
Science is constantly changing it is dynamic and open to contrary opinion, but when something is proven to be incorrect creationist continue to site it as fact.
As for Intelligent design:
An overwhelming majority of the scientific community views intelligent design as unscientific, as pseudoscience of as junk science.

There is much evidence to support evolution.

Science is dynamic and can change, unlike religions that are stuck in the bronze age.
Additionally even your POPE doesn't buy into Intelligent design.
Its NOT SCIENCE.

I was origionally drawn to this forum by a question based on pseudo-science, which tried to prove that there are "scientific miracles" in their "holy" book. It felt good to show exactly how and where the asker was wrong, and to give him the REAL facts, so that he could make his OWN conclusions ... rather than blindly believing what he did. He was infected with the DISEASE of misinformation, and was unknowingly spreading it.
Pseudo-science is disgusting, and insults the intelligence of anyone who is unfortunate enough to witness it...even the person using it!! I am very spiritual, and the religion I have CHOSEN is Catholocism. The reason I prefer Catholocism over any other "denomination" is because they seem to embrace the fact that the Bible is a SPIRITUAL manual, not a SCIENCE manual.
Pope John Paul came to terms with Science -vs- the Bible. In 1993, he formally "acquitted" Galileo, 360 years after his indictment, of heretical support for Copernicus’s heliocentrism. He also embraced evolution “an essential subject which deeply interests the Church.” If MORE church leaders would come to terms with REASON, it might allow some religions to ***EVOLVE*** into something which won't repel so many critical rational thinkers!

well you only have to look at the answers to this question so far. The misinformation amongst the folks answering this question is staggering
1) Probably for the same reason that people like you believe in theories without proof. It's called faith.
A theory comes from a hypothesis. No one is calling it Darwin's fact of evolution...
2) the "scientific community" got really upset a few hundred years back that someone had the nerve to suggest the world was round
Sorry, that was those wacky religious folks or those worried that they would be persecuted by the chruch
3) Show me the science that proves the "theory" of evolution
This is a step below an oxymoron, i'll call it an oxystupid....
4) science hasn't found much "proof" of anything, just more theories. The very fact that science is constantly changing theories whenever one doesn't work out right doesn't exactly promote much confidence.
So change is bad, OK everyone turn off their computers and all men meet me outside for the hunt.
I'll review ahead and see what other mental giants are answering...
OK found some...
5) The last I read scientist were leaning towards intelligent design
Really where did you read that? Here's one of my sources - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Steve
6) I suppose you came up with that all on your own. And you are a liar, which means you are willing to steal, thus your willing to kill.
I have no idea what this means....

These creationists are simply ignorant. They cannot pick up a book and read the definition of a scientific theory which is FAR more than just a good guess. They cannot face the reality that evolution is 100% true and 100% proven fact. There is no disagreement within the scientific community or within the realm of educated people. Anyone with half a mind or a 6th grade education can see that evolution is truth, ID and creationism are fantasy. Evolution can be duplicated the lab, speciation is a common occurrence, the fossil record screams of evolved species, genetics show it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
How can you ever convince a fool that he is a fool? Same with creationists, they will never break out of their fantasy no matter what the facts say.

Real creationists have no need to go any further than god created. The argument comes from evolutionists insisting there is a proof somewhere out there, like aliens. I think you might be missing the point a creationist is trying to make. You can use science against itself in an arguement. I'm a creationist and believe science does back this up. We aren't against science in anyway at all. For years it backs up the very thing it claims doesn't exist. There has never been proof of evolution and never will be but I'm all for a scientist making a living trying. But I honestly wouldn't label everyone who believes in creation. Most of us are quite content on having science eventually getting to the same conclusion.

Simply not true. Some of the critics of intelligent design advocate Micheal Behe are quick to admit they aren't qualified to debate him as he holds advanced degrees in his area of research. It would be kind of difficult to "disprove" intelligent design unless you could prove this hasn't happened. No one really is sure how to account for it yet. There is a good book for those who call themselves open minded by Investigative journalist Lee Strobel who interviews many credible scientists in various fields who strangely enough have serious doubts about evolution. The book for those interested is titled The case for the creator.
What I find interesting is that many of the arguments I see posted are personal attacks questioning the intelligence of anyone who disagrees with their position.I hope this isn't the manner is which they conduct scientific experiments. There are plenty of intelligent people on both sides of the argument but if you have reduced them all to "those stupid people" it is only evidence of a mental quagmire that may effect the way you view things. What I do find suspicious is when you such get such a strong reaction from some of the people. This suggests to me they aren't as secure in their view point as they would have us believe. I suggest that perhaps they read the material themselves rather than rely on third party caricatures.

I think you have it backwards. The public school textbooks that promote evolution are often using info that has been disproved 40 or more years ago such as Heckels falsification of embryos.
Darwin's evolution itself has been changed because of its short comings. Most evoltionists do not say that natural selection can lead to species to species changes anymore. Mutation theory was the next idea promoted for Darwinism but that is now becoming a dead end so now the Darwinists are puting there hopes on genetics for some kind of help for their faith in an unseen process that is heart of Darwinism. ID has been published in peer review journals so it has become an accepted theory taken seriously. You have to keep in mind that Darwinists do not represent a majority of the scientific community but they probably are some of the most vocal.

Yes I know exactly how you feel, it is just plain evil. The answer is that for those at the top of the 'Creationist' hierarchy it is a propaganda war, science has nothing to do with it. They just need something that sounds good on the surface to the uninformed. The other big weapon they use is quote-mining to misrepresent what science actually says.
Unfortunately it works (eg. all the outrageously wrong things the anti-evolutionists above me believe about science).

Intelligent design is a science for people who are clinging to pathetic belief.
Evolution is science, it is science because it keeps changing, being proven and reproven and changed. It is the only origin story with such support.

You know all the people who run to this theory or that newest theory- don't they ever wonder what the heck they following.
Big Bang..no primordial ooze- no... wait- evolved from monkeys... no wait...an atom came into contact with a particle of dirt and BOOM- you have a person.
