I also have a 8 week old cat. I took her to the vet and they told me dry food is the best and you keep the bowl full. They will only eat what they want. Put fresh out every morning. The vet said to only give my cat soft food as a treat once in awhile, and never to give them table food. You can introduce them to other flavors as often as you like. I buy the multi-pack and that way she tries a different flavor. Good-luck with your kitten. Remember cats love milk, but it is not good for them. Try a egg though for a better coat.

Kittens have very sensitive stomachs any sudden change in diet can really upset them. I would recommend that you stick with dry food which is perfectly fine (as long as it's the kitten sort) provided you give a bowl of water too. Dry food is better for their teeth and it does not go off like the soft food, so there is less waste and no smell. If you buy kitten food it will have guidelines of the daily amount the kitten should need and then you should divide that by four, so that you feed 1/4, four times a day. This prevents the kitten from over eating. Gradually you can end up giving 1/3 three times ad day, the 1/2 twice a day so that you refresh the food and entice it to eat.

By the time the kitten is a year old it will be quite happy to be fed once a day, but I would still recommend twice a day, so the food doesn't go stale.

Have fun!

Of all the crappy cat food that is on the market, what comes in the "sachets" is the lowest quality. So get a good quality canned food for the kitten. I think you might be in the United Kingdom someplace and I don't know what brands are available to you.

Please go to: www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Why Fish is Dangerous for Cats". I am sure Dr. Hovfe's article will cover why you especially should not feed tuna to cats and kittens. There are at least ten to twelve articles there on feline nutrition and you will learn a lot by reading them.

Kittens have very small stomachs. Therefore, they tend to be ‘occasional eaters’ and consume a large number of small meals. For these reasons, it is probably a good idea to make sure that your kitten has food available at all times. Usually, kittens will eat a small amount of food, then leave and return at intervals throughout the day to eat. As many people aren't around to monitor their kitten's eating, you may wish to measure the dry food into your kitten's bowl and leave it for the day. Dry food will remain fresh in the bowl for the whole day.

After your kitten reaches 6 months of age, he can be fed twice a day. Feed only the amount that is needed to help your kitten maintain good body condition, and divide that amount into two feedings. This will help ensure that your kitten does not become overweight. Keep in mind that the feeding recommendations on the package are only guidelines. The amount you will need to feed will depend upon your kitten’s activity level and body condition.

make sure you have dry and wet down all the time. one pouch of wet food and a bowl of dried food should be enough. my kittens are 11 weeks old and they have about 1 1/2 pouches a day plus dry food which is good for the teeth as they are teething

Every food is a little differnt, so you should check the labeling on the food package. It will tell you how much your kitten should get a day. Its better on your kittens body to be fed a few small meals a day then one giant one. Check with your vet about giving your kitten actual fish.

First, check with your vet. Follow his or her instructions as well as the instructions on the food you are feeding your kitten. You should be using both dry and moist that are specifically designed for kittens. Many manufacturers make these.

I don't think he is ready for Tuna or other fish dishes yet. That might be to harsh for his little belly. Do make sure to mix the wet & dry food together for a bit so he gets used to it...
