NEW new? Or old new? *S*

For old new, I recommend The Skids. They were big in the UK back in the late 70s and pioneered both the "guitars that sound like bagpipes" sound as well as the slower punk/grind that Black Flag and the grunge movement used.

I also recommend Big Black, specifically Songs about F*cking. Others include London after Midnight, Bauhaus, Tones on Tail, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Fear, Black Flag, Stiff Little Fingers (Green Day's major influence), the Stranglers, Peter Murphy, Edward Kaspel, Front 242...

of course, you may not like my style. =) But you can check out all of these guys (or most, anyway) at amazon and give em a listen to see what you like and what you don't. Happy trails!

The Lemonheads have been a favourite of mine for years, but I've only ever met a handful of people who've been into them. Try It's a Shame About Ray or Come On Feel The Lemonheads as your starter for 10...

Also, I recommend The Guillemots and Ima Robot for some new stuff. And OK Go!
