I bought a jug thing at Walgreen's that holds the recomended amount of water a person should drink each day.

I fill it up on average 3 times while I am at work which is an 8 hour period. I drink water constantly not because I am thirsty, but because it is out of habit now.

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of water a person should drink each day?

According to Dr. Mercola in his web site a person with two normal kidneys shopuld drink 1 quart of water per 50 pounds of body weight. If you are not any sort of endurance athlete or someone who works in extreme conditions(like roofers or road crews) then if you wait until you feel thirsty you are dehydrated otherwise it is very doubtful you will drink "too much" water.

If you are a healthy person, the recommendation is about 8 6 ounce glasses a day. That changes if you are fluid restricted for medical reasons or if you are a dialysis patient.
Please do not continue to refill that water bottle you've been using. Get a new one. Refilled water bottles can hold bacteria and mold.

Yes and No. Drinking lots of water is usually good for you. It flushes toxins and fat out of your system. You CAN drink too much water. I can't tell you how much it too much for you, but if it were a problem, you would already know. Too much water will throw off your electrolite balance and cause dizziness, headache and in rare cases, death. I think you'll be just fine. HTH!

it varies from person to person, but there is such a thing as too much water. can give you diarrehea, and mess up your ph, specific gravity, and electrolytes. most people don't have to worry about this because it is rare to have too much. you'll know when you do. i had no idea what was wrong with me and was shocked to hear from the MD that this was the case.

you can have to much... you will thin your blood and mess up your electrolytes and you could die... you don't really even need the 8-8 oz they say you need as long as you are drinking or eating something that has water in it everyday...

i think if your body subconciously says drink then drink up my friend. water is the best thing for your body. it keeps your organs working like champs and cleans out all the toxins in your body. you should be fine.

Too much water is when you drown. Seriously, if you intake electrolytes (not just NaCl or table salt), and have no kidney disfunction that prohibits them from doing their job, there really isn't "too much" water.
