Evangelical Christians don't desire for anyone to do anything but love the Lord and love others.

There are PEOPLE who have erred and caused a great injustice to mankind over the years--Christians and non-Christians. Nevertheless, each person has to be held accountable for their own individual deeds and indecencies.

People really should spend more time in The Bible (KJV). There are so many misunderstandings about Christianity because people fail to read it/meditate on it...even Christians.

Jesus spoke of "pruning the bad twigs" from the tree. Sin tries to infiltrate the church tree just like weeds to any other tree. It is our job to continue to prune our church branches to keep it clean and fruitful, so please don't assume that the bad branches don't mingle with the good. Instead, allow us pruning time! *smile*

"In order to get rid of pain, you need the REAL diagnosis and the real prescription. If you seek within for that which REALLY hurts you, you no longer need to mask the hurt under things in which you have little/no knowledge, and you can face the issue and heal."

Look what the Dalai Lama said recently about one of the efects of puritan evangelical faiths can inspire whole nations to do!

The Dalai Lama said Tuesday (yesterday) that violence in Iraq has cost too many lives and soured his view of the U.S.-led war.

The Tibetan spiritual leader initially reserved judgment on the conflict, saying it would only become clear with time whether the invasion was a good idea.

"At the early stage I felt, and also I expressed, 'Too early to say, to judge.' But now, things not very positive," he said in an interview with The Associated Press. "Now in Iraq — too many killings."

To restore relations between the Muslim world and the West, he said, both sides should get to know each other.

"Close contact creates clear understanding," he said. "Then suspicion, fear may not find much room. Even some disagreement doesn't matter."

The Dalai Lama was in Long Beach to address a women's conference presided over by California first lady Maria Shriver. He also met privately with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Dalai Lama said he has distilled his personal beliefs to a simple phrase: "My religion is kindness."

He would not comment directly on the furor aroused in the Muslim world after recent remarks about Islam by Pope Benedict XVI, but the Dalai Lama warned against the misuse of religion to foment social divisions.

"Mischievous people often use religious faith for their own interests and create conflict," he said. "We have to look at the real message of all these traditions."

Dear Soul...

You haven't been reading the Holy Bible. There is no scripture found "Thou shalt hang anyone that doesn't believe." Perhaps you've been reading someone else's book...but it's not Holy.

...and the Salem witch trials were about witches and witchcraft...

The Bible does speak out against witchcraft, but I haven't found scripture that tells us it's "okay" to hang witches.

However, it does tell us to follow man-made laws (unless it interferes with God's laws, i.e. 10 commandments).

So now...where is the scripture you got this notion from...or did you just make it up?

I don't recall reading about the Puritans hanging people. By th way... evangelical christians are called that because they evangelize (spread the word... to those of you who don't have a clue). Perhaps you meant fundamentalist, but again I hear or see no violence coming from the christian camps at all.

You must sense hate from someone, or are you projecting your own hatred? Evangelical Christians love you and want only the best for you. Maybe their swords feel a little sharp at times, they get sensitive in this forum, you know.

God Bless You.

I am an evangelical Christian. I want us to go forward to even greater liberties and personal freedoms.
The Puritans' descendants learned tolerance for a very good reason, it's what works.

Isn't the answer obvious?

They act as if the sexual revolution, the women's rights movement, and the Scopes Monkey trial never happened.

If you define "us" in your question as "everyone but them" then your answer would be the standard great big hypocritical YES

No, I certainly don't. I do however wish more people understood that the 10 commandments are the ways most decent people want to live- no murders, stealing, adultery.
