You don't need a download. Many e-mail clients have a full calendaring features.

Both Yahoo mail and Hotmail have calendar features that allow you to set appointments and reminders. These can then be accessed from anywhere you would normally check your e-mail.

How about a very good FREE program? It will even fit on a flash drive and run from the flash drive without installation to whatever Windows based computer you plug the flash drive into. Of course you can install it on a PC in the regular way.

It's called Sunbird Portable, you can get it here for free:

At portableapps.com, you can also get Portable Open Office (an Office suite like MS Office) and portable firefox (an internet browser) as well as portable Thunderbird (an email client), ALL for FREE.

I've got all these programs loaded on a single 512mb Kingston brand flashdrive. All are extremely useful to have when I go somewhere and need to use someone elses computer.

Microsoft Outlook is a good choice. Lots of people use it and if you sign up for their web service you could share your calendar with others.
