1/2 sibling means one parent of same blood (same mom different dads)
Step siblings are not of same family blood.

A half sibling is someone you share one parent with, but not the other-like having the same mom but different dads. A step sibling is someone you are related to only by marriage, like say the man you're mom is marrying has kids. They'd be your step siblings.

To be a half-sibling means that you both conceived by the same parent. You either have the same birth father or birth mother.
To be a step-sibling means that your parent remarries with someone who has children. Neither of their parents are related to you by blood relation.
