If it isn't the reputable language of this us of a, then why did I even ought to take all of those English instructions through the 9th grade! Holy Cow! Are you telling me that i did not ought to purpose to study all that stuff! Your putting me on, perfect? I hated those instructions & now you tell me that it's not even "reputable"! wager that signifies that we are able to get rid of all of those English instructors! Oh, no, extra unemployment! heavily, i keep in mind that it's not the reputable language of this us of a in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is been implyed through out our historic previous as a rustic that English is the language we use for all verbal change no matter if or not it really is written or spoken. sure, we've used different languages contained in the previous yet, only because the international places we were coping with did not comprehend or trust English. Our structure is written in English, that sorta says something to me about what language our us of a thinks is mandatory to human beings. So, sure, i'd vote to make it reputable.

Seems a bit ridiculous. Every nationality who migrated here was always able to change to the English Language. Why do the Mexicans think they are special and don't have to change? If we demand they obey our rules then I guess speaking only English must be in the rules also. My analogy; if you don't like the language, of a country where you want to live, then don't go there.

America has no offical language we speak whatever the majrty of the people here speak. The same reson English is the first langauge languge and Christmas is an offical holiday ( the majorty of Amricans are English speaking Christans) spanish may become our new first languge. The only reson to make English the offical languge is to appese us white people who are scared of losing our majority.

It should be our official language. For years people have adapted to learning the English language before it was ever the official language. I, for one, hope the bill passes. Mind you, I have immigrants in my family from other countries that are non-English speaking.

Already ruled on by the Supreme Court about 90 years ago.

The best Congress can do is require that all laws be written in English, and that all translations to other languages be accurate. And they can require immigration and naturalization procedures to be conducted solely in English, with the section 5 exception.

There is absolute Constitutional protection in the teaching and use of any other language, as per Supreme Court ruling long long ago.
HR997 is carefully written to pay lip service to that holding, in section 165. It goes just far enough to stretch the constitutional limits, without breaking them. So, very likely, the statute will survive constitutional scrutiny.

So, it's legal. And it's a perfect example of the nature of a might-makes-right democracy. Just as any later law that might change it to some other language in the future, based on a different majority, will be legal, regardless of what the minority wants.

I would not expect it to pass. This is a nation of many different cultures; to declare an official language would be spitting in our founding fathers' faces. We welcome everyone (legally).

I do agree that English should be the predominant language, however it should not be "official."
