couscous is actually a bigger deal then buying the box. It is the stew that makes the taste.
ingredients
zucchini
carrots
celery
tomatoes or crushed ground peeled tomatoes
sweet potatoes
cumin (seeds are better)
black pepper (whole seeds better)
salt to taste
basil, fresh is better
Thyme
Paprika
harisa (hot sauce)
red pepper flakes
onions
red pepper (hot)
chicken
chickpeas
after you make the stew, you take the liquid from the stew and add it to the couscous, it is suppose to steam the couscous, it only takes a few minutes. The stew is basically, browning the chicken in spices, then adding enough water to cover chicken pieces, then adding tomatoe, it is a tomatoe base, then the hardest veggies first, for a few hours, and finally the last 15 minutes the zucchini and chickpeas, adding spices through out
Sorry for the unorganized manner, I learned this from watching others as a child, never had an actual recipe. I hope it was somewhat helpful.

couscous benefits from being cooked with chicken broth rather than plain water. it improves the flavor and texture. follow the package directions substituting the broth for water.
use the couscous as a side dish, or make a meat dish with a thick sauce and pour it over the couscous on the plate.
curries and stews are good choices, any meat you prefer.

Buy the boxed brand in the section where the rice is located. Add your own special ingredients like finely chopped carrots, mint. Use olive oil instead of butter in boiling water and add minced garlic to water. Variation, add curry to couscous. For sweet flavoring add currants or mango pieces.

a lot of grocery stores sell boxed couscous. there should be directions on the back of the box... i don't think it's too complicated to make, and you can add any spices you want to it (they also sell flavored/seasoned couscous). my favorite way to make it is to add a little curry to it. hope this helps :)

It's not worth the aggravation or the ingredients.
