Thai Air is one of the top airlines in the world, with some of the very latest planes.
I would recommend flying Thai.
The food is fantastic too.

I prefer EVA Air to Thai Airways but have never flown Etihad.
EVA Air have recently upgraded their planes to the 777 which are more comfortable and a better seat layout than Thai airlines 747.
EVA Air have individual video screens at each seat with a choice of 12-18 channels with a choice of movies and games.
One of the advantages of Eva Air is that they have a Premium Economy section (Evergreen Deluxe) with greater seat width and pitch, seat layout 2-4-2 across the plane. The additional cost for this varies depending on the time of year and the best deal that you can get but is typically 100-150 pounds over the economy price. I find that this is worthwhile, giving more comfort and a better opportunity to sleep.
Food is perfectly adequate and additional snacks such as noodles, sandwiches, ice cream are provided between the meals.
Finally, both EVA Air and Thai Air fly direct to bangkok with no stops.

Certainly not Thai Air. Have not tried other 2, but I would go for Eva Air if cost about the same.
My experience with Thai Air last month.
Food not tasty, Service for food slow. Also didn't want to serve me the bun (empty type), talked as if I way so greedy when I asked for my missing bun. Also never apologised. Air hostess very rude. Coffee served very long after meal. Asked several times for coffee but they just cannot be bothered. No inflight entertainment other than the music through earphones. No personal LCD screen. No Video games. My 4 year old son also did not recieved any kids toy or entertainment pack (even some budget airlines provide)
Only good thing is they provide newspapers.
My worst airline experience, worse than budget airlines. Be prepare to be pissed off. I was so shocked to Thai Airways is so bad. And I am usually those simple go up plane, eat what they serve and go and sleep type, minimal service required.
Of course it is your choice. It just feels very shitty that your holidays end up like that on the way back, so just get you prepared.

I have flown Thai Air but was not overly impressed. Night flight and the cabin crew were only seen for the lst two hours and the hour before landing. In flight entertainment poor, food not that good and pretty cramped. All in all not a pleasant experience. Having said that once went with Monarch and that was totally disgusting!

Singapore is a great airline and Thai is not far behind. But if you want great service, great food you must fly first class Japan Airlines. Japan Air is great in international flights, local flights not so good. Eva Air is a cheap choice and good for the price.
