Because trailers once were rented by people with very low income. Nowadays, the people who own even the extremely NICE double- and triple-wides and the luxurious modular homes are called 'trailer trash' out of pure jealousy. Many people who live in apartments live in rat and roach infested squalor, while many people who live in so-called 'trailers' live in luxury in comparison. You should go to a mobile home sales center sometime and just look at some of them. Many are put on permanent foundations and the axles are removed. They are no longer 'trailers' once they are put on those types of foundations. Also, if it has wheels it is a mobile home. If it is moved by modules (parts) on a flatbed truck, it is a 'modular
home'. Even the single wide mobile homes now are extremely nice. Nothing will last forever unless it is taken care of. They will last 30+ years if maintained properly.

I have known school teachers, nurses, executive secretaries, supervisors in manufacturing plants, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, people who work for the telephone company as linemen, insurance salesmen, people from many income levels who have bought mobile homes. They all aren't hardly what I would call 'trash'.

There are trashy neighborhoods of houses and apartments, too. Some are worse than some 'trashy' trailer parks.

Name calling is a childish tactic pro-illegals and their supporters have stooped to in order to expel their last dying gasp before deportation. They are fighting a losing battle and they know it. They have no other recourse but to start throwing out 'names'. Like a drowning man grasping at a straw. It won't hold them up.

some people are just trashy people. I grew up in a trailer court, but my family was never trashy. We have good morales and my parents taught us never to look down on people because they are different than us. There were some people in the same neighborhood that were trashy, and there are rich people that are trashy too. People that are using that term on here are trying to hit white americans where it hurts. They are acting out because they are trying to defend their culture against the majority. It is not nice, and not fair. I hope we can learn to get along without all the name-calling!

As an ethnic equivalent to the obscene and bigotted epithets directed at "minority" Americans, there is a use in identifying the extremely lowly ways of the lowest class of "white" Americans. These European-Americans have been called "poor white trash" for a long time. "Trailer trash" is a newer phrase. It derives from the simple fact that the poverty characteristic of these (often socially wanting, krass-behaving) people causes many of them to live in various kinds of mobile home or pre-fab home (as these are inexpensive compared to other kinds of homes).

Some people, for a variety of reasons, live lives that are quite depressing and difficult and unfulfilling. We need to pray for them and sympathize with their plight (also the plight of the children!!) more than revile them.

Most people seem to think that only whites live in trailers. Not true. The trailers in my area have Hispanic residents.

Just so that the people that say that kind of thing can try to feel superior to other people that may not have the same lifestyle or as much money as them. People seem to enjoy putting down other people. It makes them feel powerful . Good Luck ! :)
