I mean besides paying it off... are there any companies out there that will help you reduce your debt.. besides the obvious credit counseling services that are advertised on TV and such. Ive heard that there are grants and stuff that you can get from the government but I dont know how credible that info is. Does anyone have any personal experience on getting their credit rating higher?

There are no government grants for personal finances, unless you count food stamps and other welfare. You'll just have to do it the hard way. If you can refinance your debt at a lower interest rate and/or payment, that may help Also call your credit card companies and ask for a lower interest rate, and tell them you will transfer the balance and close the account if they don't.

How much equity you have available will boost your credit. Get your most recent credit report and see where to go from there. Your score could be better than you think.
