Here at Yahoo we kind of wear our religions on our sleeves....but what about in the real world? Have you ever thought about how many people we interact with every day without discussing religion? We seem to get along fine with no heated debate. Just think of how may times a Buddist talks with a Muslim, or even a Christian interacts with a Satanist. No one is none the wiser and life goes on...comments...

Had to add this for Slim on his comment on Satanists wearing their religion on their sleeve, don't Christians do the same with a gold chain and cross around their neck?

Yes, as long as people treat their beliefs as something between them and their god rather than the determinant of public policy, something intended to enrich their own lives rather than something to be imposed on others. I know many for whom faith has been an ennobling thing. Peace be upon them.

The conflict starts when certain religionists decide that the rest of us are obliged to live by their beliefs, that their mythology should be taught in public schools as if it were a valid source of historical and scientific fact, that their scriptural laws should be reflected in public law, that government institutions should be vehicles of proselytization, and that those who don't believe as they do should be relegated to a sort of second-class citizenship.
Or, worse, that those who don't believe as they do should be punished with sword and fire, or airliners crashing into skyscrapers.

Yes, Buddhists and Muslims are not "enemies", Islam is not a bad religion. As a Buddhist I respect all faiths...

“I have come to the conclusion that whether or not a person is a religious believer does not matter. Far more important is that they be a good human being”

Very ture.... however, if I know someone is a satanist or involved in any of the crap associated with it, I will avoid any personal contact with that individual... They are enemies of all and can not be trusted.

islam is, IMO, also a great evil. But I do not concider all who are decieved by that deception to be evil. I base my reactions to, and my relationship with, one of the decived of islam upon the way they react and respond to me. I will trust them so long as they, personaly, remain trust worthy. IMO... islam is the greatest evil facing the world today.

We can generlly tell a few things.

Many Christians wear crosses.

Many Mulsims wear head gear.

Many punkers or Satanistic or Gothic girls wear black nail polish, leather, studs and spikes. (Must take a lot of moxey to go to Catholic Church dressed like that and take communion.)

well since this is the religion and spirituality section, I think we come here to talk about what the title indicates. as for talking to people of other faiths and religions and those that are lacking in both (lol).. I think of most people here as my friend, I don't hold their religion against them, and they don't seem to hold mine against me.
am I the only one happy here? huh?

true, but when asked, or opportunity to witness or share comes up, i go for it--not to cram religion, but to inspire. Even here is the same thing--only if asked, or appropriate to say

actually it is a bad point ..
most people don't like to talk about the religion when his partener is of another one .. and i think it is of 2 main reasons ,, while there are many other branched reasons
1st .. most of them are not religious ..or don't understand much about his religion ,, and may some just follow his mum and dad religion without thinking ..

2nd.. may afraid to hv a mindless sharp argument ..
