I want to take a training class at the Wyndham DC. I was wondering if there was a cheaper hotel nearby, maybe within walking distance. My company will not pay the current hotel rate. Thanks for you help!!

First... there are a bunch of wrong answers here so watch out what advice you listen to. There is no Metro station in Georgetown so whoever says there's one in the bottom of a hotel in Georgetown is wrong. Same as the response that Alexandria is right across the bridge. It ain't! Not to sound mean to the other posters but really, guys, get your facts straight!

For the real facts from someone who actually knows that neighborhood... there are several other hotels in that neighborhood, in more reasonable price ranges. Not sure how high your company wants to go but I would start with the brand-new Embassy Suites at 900-10th Street NW or maybe it is 1000-9th Street? Either way, it is 10th and K NW which would be about a 5-6 block walk to the Wyndham. There is also a Four Points Sheraton at the corner of 12th and K NW so that's 3-4 blocks to your class.

There are several other hotels in that neighborhood but these are the two I would recommend first. If both of these are still out of your range, send me a Personal message and I'll make some more recommendations.

Do not try to stay cheap because it will mean that you are a part of down that has high crime. Stay as close to the Wyndham as possible and ask your company to pay what they were willing to pay and you pay the difference. I would say that you need to stay in the Northwest part of DC. You might not want to stay in Alexandria because the cost to go back and forth more than once a day might cost you more that staying close. The comuter traffic is heavy on the subway and can be confusing to a new person

Try hotels in Alexandria Virginia, it is right across the bridge. I went to Wa. DC for my employer and stayed there. Washington is one of the highest rates for hotels. This won't work if you have to walk though, I rented a car.

The Ritz in Georgetown is nice and has a metro station in the bottom of it...
