Because criminals use cars to travel, traffic cocaine, wanted felons, people with outstanding warrants. They use getaway cars for burglaries and robberies. Some cars stopped are stolen.

It is annoying isn't it... I will be the diplomat here - The Government decide how much money goes to each Police Force... They set the targets - The police are servants of the public - the public voted in the government - the public - and police officers pay taxes to the government who then allocate the money - so - the police cannot tell the government what they are doing with their money - they have to fulfil targets set... OR lose the money.
Boring answer but it is the whole blooming world over - We vote them in - they tell police what to do - then we moan that the police are not catching the right people - or prosecuting the right people. By the way - half the time the copper wants to prosecute but CPS decide it isn't "in the public interest" or maybe the risk of losing at court is too high??? I dunno!!!!
There isn't a lot we can do about it really. I feel so depressed now....

Well, most of the cases where there's a police chase there's one of three reasons in play. 1: The car was reported stolen. That affects the public... 2: The driver was driving unsafely. That affects the public. Imagine getting hit by a driver and as they speed off, the cops shrug their shoulders "oh well, they got away." 3: There are warrants out for the registered owner of the car. That affects the public. What if that rapist gets into your sister's house and rapes her but could have been stopped because the police could have pulled him over and arrested him?
Car chases are dangerous, but the media's televising them is worse. I live in the car chase capitol of the nation, and i have not once seen one that was misguided. Once they chased down a man who had just attacked a child...trying to rape her. Should that have been a low priority call?

It's not about concentrating on crime that affects Joe Public.
Crime happens on the roads aswell. People steal cars to commit crime. People drive whilst ther are disqualified, without a licence, insurance or even MOT'S.
If you also obeyed the traffic laws, then you are not likely to be pulled over.
In relation to prosecuting parents whose kids commit crime i would have to disagree with you on that one. When the children are out, how can the parents know what they are doing without following them everywhere they go. Sometimes it is the parents fault but if not, and the child commits crime then the child/children should be sent to some kind of boot camp. ( like BAD LADS ARMY)

hey there i hear you loud and clear......the problem with this is (and dont get me wrong there is no soultion that will fix every aspect of this problem) if a cop does chase a bad guy and the outcome is good (bad guy in trouble, no injuries) then no one complains, if a cop chases a bad guy and the outcome results are bad (injury to badguy, cop or an innocent person) then people complain or worse sue, another point the bad guy gets away and commits a crime on another person then the cops get blasted by the public......it is sometimes a damed if you do damed if you don't senerio. I think it is now a 'fad' or 'thing to do' when it comes to running from the police........so it is going to happen more. I wish I could give you the answer that you are looking for, but as I said before there is not one answer that will fix every part of this problem.

you're truthfully suitable. on an identical time as i won't be able to deny that those caught rushing are committing a criminal offence unquestionably they are delicate objectives and police time spent trapping them is basically a cynical attempt to advance the crime clean up documents and tutor that the police are doing their activity on an identical time as thieves, vandals, and worse get away with their offences. the ordinary actuality is that a velocity decrease as an occasion is basically a random extensive type placed on a stretch of street and who's to declare no count if exceeding it and by ability of how lots constitutes an offence. As individual who has been stopped by ability of the police for making use of too slowly (in case i could have been under the impact of alcohol) i've got not got any particular awl to grind yet i will see that the officers who wasted their time on me might have used their time extra profitably and if the main up-tp-date around of cuts reasons the police to sharpen up their act and communicate approximately what's unquestionably significant then i'm excited approximately them.

Because it's easier to catch motorists for speeding etc than catch real criminals and the fines are just another of Brown's stealth taxes. Seriously it helps to pad the crime statistics so that Chief Contstables look good.

hmmm... I know what you're saying, and I agree to some extent, but what about motorists who drive like di*ks and/or drink and drive, who are endangering those around them? Unfortunately, not everyone has the sense and decency to drive properly, so the police do need to monitor the roads.
the police do have the resources to fight crime, but it's not that simple, people don't make it that easy to be caught and even when they are the law often seems designed to protect criminals, who get away with stuff on some minor technicality!

Chasing motorists is not a priority, but it cannot be helped when you see cars hurtling around being driven by 13 yr olds. Read the papers lately, how many more innocent people are going to be killed by these morons who don,t give a f###.

The working classes in this country are having the p i s s taken out of them - we pay for EVERYTHING - the rich sit in ivory towers protected by security guards and toy with the rest of us just so their corporate buddied can earn 15 million a year instead of 14.5 - plus we are persecuted by the underclass who also take the p i s s by ignoring laws knowing full well they will get away with ANYTHING they do. Damn the stupid f u c k e r s who run this country - nothing short of a f u c k i ng revolution will stop them.
