Why do all Television channels begin with 2 and not 1?

As far back as I can remember all TV's Had dials that started with number 2 instead of 1, is there a reason why?

There was a Channel 1 until 1945 when the FCC reserved it for low power community television stations.

One is the loneliest number so the "maker" needed the number out of the masses.
