...usually I just wait for the right moment or say hello, but there are other times when I really like someone and think "ok I have to act now" even if it isnt the right moment, so what should be my best opener? (never used a chat up line in my life actually)

Best thing to do is just go up with a nice smile and say "Hi, I'm *** can I buy you a drink?" much better than any cheesy one liners, just be yourself, girls appreciate it - also girls love confidence so try not to worry too much and just relax.
I'm just throwing this in for the hell of it - my favourite line (I've not used it but I've heard it used) "Hi, I seem to have lost my phone number, can I have yours?" - made me giggle!

Just smile nicely and say hi, call for a drink and maybe start some small talk about the place your in, crowded, atmosphere and then wait for her to chat, if she is interested she will continue. I prefer when a man is real rather than using some chat up line.

Mate, Don't matter what line u use, women can smell good guys a mile away. If u are a nice guy and walk up to them and give a chat up line they'll tell u to **** off without a moments hesitation.
Anyway, moral of this story. Don't trust them.

Please don't start now, An honest approach is wonderful, it shows you care enough about the person, and you are not just hitting on them in hopes you get lucky. So step up and say my name is and I would like to get to know you. You may if you wish add a complement such as I saw your smile from across the room and thought, That is some one I would like to know

look over at her quite often, eye contact but not constantly, just glance over a couple of times, she'll notice and like it. Then, also smile, but dont do it straight away, cause that would seem a bit creepy. Laugh out loud, so she notices you, and when you spot her looking at you, look across at her as though you've just spotted her looking at you. she'd totally love it and then towards the end of the evening, go over to her and say casually, 'hi, my names .............., whats yours', chat for a bit and finally ask for her number.
try it, it wont fail.
p.s- you must dress well, have a nice smile and smell good.

I dont think chat up lines work and find them rather cheesy and tacky-just be yourself and if you are cute, sexy and have a sexy smile-you cant go wrong.
