It depends on where you live and your income mostly.
If you live in Alabama and make between 25k as a single and 75k a year as a couple, you would be middle class.

In New York ity if you make 80k as a single up to 200k as a couple you would be middle class.

In fact if you asked most people in the US if they are middle class they would probably say yes regardless of their income. That is why all of the "Tax the Rich" schemes don't get shot down, people don't consider themselves as being rich or upper class.
Basically the US Govt considers any Single or Couple that earns over 75k a year rich. At 75k you are in the 28% tax bracket. If you look at my examples, none of those people would consider themselves rich, in fact, the New York couple would be subject to the AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax). That was a threshold set up by the Govt. in the 70s to insure that the rich paid "their fair share". What it does is takes away or limits almost all of your deductions so you pay the maximum amount. Within 10 years 50% of Tax paying Americans will be paying AMT because the income threshold hasn't risen over the years with inflation. 100k in 1972 was allot more money than 100k in 2006.

The government actually has figures on how to measure middle class, but I don't know them. That aside, here's a simple measure. We know who are the filthy rich. And we know who is poor and indigent. Everyone else is middle class. Unfortunately, the middle class of years ago is shrinking, because more and more people are finding themselves in the 'poor' and struggling category.

Its between upper class and lower class.

Middle class think middle of the road act and do middle of the road things.

Now you take your upper class, they think lofty thoughts and do highly paid jobs and offer higher purchase to the lower classes.

Wheras of course the lower class people think lowly thoughts and do low down jobs and earn low pay

Yer middle class do all the things the others cant of course.

WE HAVE NO CLASS DIFFERENTIAL IN THIS COUNTRY ANY MORE ASK ANYONE THEY WILL ALWAYS SAY THEY ARE MIDDLE CLASS! Just some are better at robing others to get more of what they want. LOL

I would say that the middle class tends to live in houses, not apartments, drives one or two cars, has more kids than the upper class but less than the lower class, is always worried about money but tries to look like they aren't, is more sedentary than any other class--that is, finds their entertainment sitting in front of things like the TV instead of moving around, and poliically tends to be more concerned with their personal lives than with other people.

Happy people! People who have a family, a nice home, a good job, a nice car and can go on vacation. Middle Class people are nice people with a balanced life and a loving family. If you are below middle class you stress out over money all the time and if you are above middle class you stress out over the people that want your money all the time. Happiness is somewhere in between, in middle class. :-)

middle class people talk at you, rather than to you.
watch their eyes when they speak, they seem to glaze over like they're reciting a mantra or going into a trance.
and also look for the red wine stain around their lips, a clear giveaway of middle classness.
the women tend to be in therapy in later life.
and the men seem to lose the will to live often appearing as though
they've had their testicles removed (in fact many of them have).
they tend to have children in later life, producing blond curly haired fat lipped children, who go on to have all manner of fears and phobias, but all end up going to university.
the middle classes have an adverse fear of violence, and will do all most anything to avoid confrontation.

Middle class.....hmmm for example a family of four with a total yearly income of 100K. Husband makes 60, wife makes 40. Two kids, a big mortgage, 2 financed cars and a lot of credit card bills.

High middle class, from 100 to 200K a year.

Over 200K is definitely rich at least to my standards.....

Middle Class people are reserved, well behaved, always helping others in whatever way they can. Satisfied people.
Doesnot care about politics and the most ignorant people who donot care any policy change made by the government which concerns them.
People who always think about money. Who donot buy or cannot afford branded clothings.
Very hard to make an awakening in them.
