If you can change the drive letter to b: then this will work.

at dos prompt type this command
subst b: C:\temp

Maps the b drive letter to any directory on your c drive. The directory must exist for the command to work. This command will work for the a: drive too but you have to disable the drive in the computer bios first. subst a: c:\temp Only if the floppy drive was disabled.

Good luck

This is a tricky situatiion and frustrating too. My sympathies.

In Tally 4.5, you can go to Tools, settings (or options) and see if it has other alternative destination drive for back up. CD or DVD will be ideal. You should have a writer for them though. Or, back up to the hard drive.

Another way: you can back up using Win XP.
Start, programs, accessories, system tools and back up.

Or, go to explorer (start, right click) and drag and drop to a drive of your choice.

You do not have to use Tally's backup utility.

If all else fails, read the manual or call their tech support. If the Tally company has gone belly up, then put your question up at www.ask.com. or at http://www.geek.com - I am sure someone knows about Tally and how to tweak it.

I am guessing - Tally have released a upgrade and you just haven't gottonaroundtoit to download. Right?

In this day and age, floppies have gone the way of the dodo bird.
