It is too early for actual potty training but you are on the right path. Let her follow you to the bathroom and continue telling her what you are doing. She won't have the muscle control until about 2 yrs but in another couple of months, go ahead and buy the potty chair. Don't make a big deal of it - let her sit on it (with clothes on) whenever she wants to. When she does, when you change her, and when she follows you - just casually tell her "pretty soon, you'll be a big girl and go pee-pee (or poop) in the potty too." Around her birthday, start asking her if she wants to use her potty once or twice a day (before her bath is a good time). At some point, she will "accidentally" use the potty - praise her but don't make a really big deal of it. Gradually ask her more often and soon she will get the hang of it. Out of my 4 girls - this method worked the best! (with twins no less!!). I know you are getting tired of diapers but if you wait until she is really ready, it will be much faster and MUCH less stressful for both of you!

don't force her, 17 months is a little young, but all kids are different. I would keep talking about it for sure. You will know when she is ready to really start training her. Be patient, my daughter just kind of did it on her own. Talk to your pediatrician at well. Good luck!

Buy her a potty and start out by letting her sit on it dressed. Then without pants let her get used to the potty on her terms. Don't rush it.

is she ready? don't make her do anything she isn't ready to do.
My daughter trained at about 18 mo, but that was b/c I was training 2 other children at the same time (that also made it apparent they were ready)
