I wish you luck. I have bought the repellents and the three I have tried, expensive, don't work on the various cats and one dog crapping on my property. And, the cats have killed wild baby rabbits in my yard.
Calling animal control does nothing because cats run when a stranger approaches and they are extremly hard to catch. I was told I would have to catch them and then call animal control. Yeah, right.
I am very tired of the neighbors' cats messing up my gardens and my grandson's sand table. But, you know, most cat owners think their cats MUST have freedom. I say, buy them a cat run and clean up their mess yourselves.
Oh, and I have tried those battery-operated things that are supposed to emit a sound when something walks in front of them, but can only be heard by cats and dogs and some rabbits and others. They don't seem to be working either and cost me $60 for 2.
Seems my property isn't my property after all.

If you want to use something to just make the cats stay away, sprinkle moth balls on the ground in your yard - cats hate this smell - of course, you may not care for the smell either, so as a backup plan, you could buy a small live trap and set it out. When you catch the cats (usually one at a time), turn them into your city's animal control. Animal Control personnel rarely have the time to come at the appropriate time to catch them, but there are exceptions.

Folks are right. If the cats are a nuisence you can call Animal Control. If you live in an apartment complex, however, your landlord may be responsible for their removal / abatement.
The main ailment associated with cats that can cause difficulties for pregnant women is "toxoplasmosis". Here's the big dictionary explanation:
Symptoms of the infection vary.
* Most people who become infected with Toxoplasma are not aware of it.
* Some people who have toxoplasmosis may feel as if they have the "flu" with swollen lymph glands or muscle aches and pains that last for a month or more.
* Severe toxoplasmosis, causing damage to the brain, eyes, or other organs, can develop from an acute Toxoplasma infection or one that had occurred earlier in life and is now reactivated. Severe cases are more likely in individuals who have weak immune systems, though occasionally, even persons with healthy immune systems may experience eye damage from toxoplasmosis.
* Most infants who are infected while still in the womb have no symptoms at birth, but they may develop symptoms later in life. A small percentage of infected newborns have serious eye or brain damage at birth.

I've heard of stuff like that I think PetCo or PetSmart may carry it, it's supposed to give off a scent that cats/dogs don't like and they'll leave, no guarantee though. Also, try calling your local animal control, maybe they'll have live-traps you could set out.
Too, not just feral cats carry diseases that we can catch but, other dogs, birds, FLIES, squirrels......almost any critter can carry a disease.

At any local pet store they should have repellent for cats that is both safe for you and your baby and won't hurt the environment or the cats. I don't understand why you are so worried about cats. It's not like cats go out looking for little babies to hurt. Most cats only carry diseases, if they do at all, that can be passed from cat to cat, not cat to human. Chill out. They are not going to hurt your baby.

There are spray and repellents you can buy at pet and hardware stores.
Contact the management. Cats can be considered pests and they will do something.
Call animal control, they have traps you can rent.
I shouldn't mention, but antifreeze is sweet and sometimes you can get them to lap it right up. It takes awhile for them to die, just enough time for them to go somewhere else.
