No max. for clowns. You must carry mimes in the trunk, so the limit is trunk capacity.

Well DUH, you can have as many clowns as you like. It's the MINIMUM number you have to be careful of, especially with mimes, because mimes don't count as whole people. And, since you have to have at least two people in the car in the carpool lane, you'll need several mimes to even get to that level. Be warned! Police are NOT fooled by the old only-one-mime-but-it-counts-as-one-whole-person trick, not even for a second, nosiree! Not even if it's only a part-time mime.

I believe the owners manual states only ONE clown or to mimes, if one is in the backseat directing.
