Yes it does... it does not alter your personality forever, but it enlightens you and makes you approach life differently...

Personally, it gives me a sense of peace. Being altered can be a term used. Because it changes your outlook which affects your reactions and attitudes towards certain things. You can always revert back to how you were before but if religion gives you a better perspective of life and a better understanding of people and the world - then stick with it if it makes you a better person.

St. Francis of Assisi said conversion is a daily and some times hourly process. For me, it's often by the minute.
One can't put on faith like a coat. One struggles with it. That is, if one really wants to be a better person and attain everlasting life.
Forgiveness is the most difficult for us all. Forgiving over and over again. We also have to remember to forgive ourselves when we fall. Even when we fall 7 times in an hour.
Get up. Brush off the dust and try again.

Not really. I've watched several people convert to one religion or another and I've never seen any real personality changes. Behavior, sometimes, but never personality. My father-in-law is a good example. He used to be an overbearing, abusive, controlling, manipulative street hustler. Then he got "born again". Now he's a manipulative, controlling, abusive, overbearing Fundy. The only thing that changed was his addiction.

Based on Ephesians 4:22-24 the answer is YES.
Romans 12:2 says something similar.

Yes, absolutely. But not always for the better. At one point, when I went to college, I was going to a Christian college. I got so caught up in religion that I actually lashed out at my sister, the person who has defended me against everything thrown at me during my school years (bullies, etc), for being a Wiccan. It's then I realized that religion was turning me against my own family.

Religion in and of itself does not change a person, but knowing God for who He really is, seeking to follow his commands and surrendering our will to His -- this is what changes a person.
I grew up as a Mormon, and one thing I knew as a Mormon is that I could not sin. When I converted to Christianity, it took time for me to realise just how screwed up that thinking was -- I mean, we all have made mistakes, right? But since living and following God's commands -- all based on love -- I find that I am sickened by the things that I do and am capable of doing, and I have a true desire NOT to do those things, and so God's law that tells me that those things are wrong, are coupled with God's grace that makes repentence and forgiveness easy, and so I fall down, but I am able to get right up again and keep on truckin', trying to overcome those things that plagued me in my youth.
You have to realise that God's laws/commands are not a do not do list because God is an Ogre who wants to ruin everyone's fun. They are an instruction that teaches us how to love others. If you love God, you won't worship other gods instead of him, if you love God, you won't use His name irreverently. If you love God, you'll keep the Sabbath -- a day He made for us to rest. If you love your fellow man, you won't steal from him, lie to him, lie about him, cheat with his wife, be jealous of the things he has and despise the things you have. Get it?
Following God does not cause me to 'lose' my personality, but it does cause my personality to be more careful and more feeling and more loving towards my fellow man, which if you think about it, is just an enhancement, and upgrade from my regular personality, like Rebecca Plus.
Hope this helps.

Religion can have many affects on people.
For some it closes their minds and becomes an excuse not to grow.
To others it expands their world, encourages self examination and fosters growth.
Like anything else it can be good or bad.

Accepting Christ Jesus as your Savior changes your life completely. Not you as a person, but your personal habits, your feelings toward other people, a completely different attitude and a brighter out look on life. You are the same person, just changed in spirit.
