As a real hot food junkie, I get lots of "friends" saying "hey try this!"

What gives your tongue the "hot" sensation is the capsacin oil in peppers. If you can keep your mouth tightly shut (so you don't get any air in there) while you are chewing, the effects are not nearly so bad.

If something really is burning your tongue, do NOT go for a liquid. It may sound like the right thing, but liquid will just dilute the oil a little, and spread it around more, making it seem even hotter.

Go for something bready A roll, or a cracker, or a piece of bread. It will absorb the oil instead of spreading it around.

I can stand to eat really hot food. So I never real have to cool my self down, but when others try my portions they always need help. I tell them to drink milk, eat bread and butter, or smoke a cigarette. That normally cools them down.

Fill a glass up with ice cold water...topped with ICE....and stick your tongue into the glass

It sounds disgusting, but after you leave your tongue inside for 30 seconds/1 minute, you'll feel much more better

Drink a glass of cold milk and do NOT... I repeat, do NOT drink anything fizzy like coke. It just makes it worse. Be well.

I've heard eating chocolate helps and also a glass of milk.

So, when I accidentaly bit into the spiciest pepper I've ever had in my Thai food I downed a glass of chocolate milk and it really helped.
