My mom thinks that there is something wrong with me. And, to be honest, there could be. When she found out that i had voices in my head and knew i had thoughts of causing severe harm, even death, to people, she told me i was going whether i wanted to or not. What do i do? i want to get help with these problems, but it's embarrassing to know that other people know that there's things wrong with me. do i go, or trust my instincts and not go.

OK, firstly, you already know that you have a problem but you don't want the help because you are embarrassed. Listen, you have got to get over that.

The professionals at the place you are going to go are the ONLY ones that have to know you are getting help for this. They are not allowed BY LAW to discuss it.

You can ask your mom to PLEASE not tell other people or it will risk serious problems in your recovery.

The professionals at the hospital or clinic have seen IT ALL - much much worse than your problems and will not laugh at you. This is their job. Therapy and treatment is what they do for a living. No one would risk their bread and butter to be so unprofessional and reveal to anyone that you are sick.

Please let this go. Go get the help. Your life is at risk. Your life is all you've got - live it.

Hello.... I am surprised that you don't want to go in for some help. Don't you find it odd that you hear voices in your head? Right now you have someone opening a door for you, a person who loves you. It is your choice now to go through that door and accept the help. Later on , after you have harmed someone or yourself , you will no longer have the freedom to choose. Your right to choose will be taken from you. In therapy , nobody but you and your doctor are going to know what's being discussed, That's the law . My advice is to just try it. You say that you want help. All you need to do is follow the instincts which prompted you to pose your question here at Yahoo. Don't be just a bystander to your own life . Good luck and remember that those voices you're hearing are standing in the way of your true self..................really.

If you have had voices in your head and have had these thoughts, which must be terrible you must trust your Mum on this one. our mum's only do for us what is best. trust her and go. Your instinct may be is the thinking of these voices. we all have to trust someone once in a while and this is going to be your time. You say you want the help? Take this offer as it will be rare if it comes again.
Good luck and I hope you can do this and come out the other side positively and feeling alot better than you do now. CJay

We all have a "voice" in our head. Some people listen to it more than others and do things they wouldn't normally do. Some people just don't listen to their "voice" at all. The "voice" in my head used to be really sad, lonely, depressed, angry, alone, and nervous. But training yourself to push the negative thoughts aside and focus more on the positive thoughts can be a real struggle and some people need help from a shrink or anti-depressants.

If you have violent thoughts and think you may have the potential to harm someone or yourself, then you may want to talk to a professional who can help you.

Do what you think is best for you. And remember, your mom is just trying to help because she cares about you.

Well seeing how you already realize that you have a problem is the first step to the healing process. I think the voice that is telling you not to go is not looking out for your best interest. Also, be thankful that your mom loves you enough to seek out help for you. Don't be afraid of what people may think of you we all have problems and no one should judge anyone. I think it takes a strong person to admit he/she even has a problem because so many people live in denial. So, I admire you for asking the question should you get help and look you've already to us so really whats the difference about anyone else knowing. I will pray for you and stay strong and forget about what people may think of you.

Try going, usually our moms mean well and the advice they give us is because they love us and want to see us get better. Don't feel embarrassed, the therapy is only there to help you deal with your feelings and to control what the voices may be telling you to do. Give it a shot. If you feel worse after a few sessions, you can always stop going.

Mom ALWAYS knows best. You should definitly listen to her and go. You want these voices to go away and so does she! She just doesn't want you to grow up and commit suicide or something. She has her reasons and by doing this it shows that she really cares about you! If you don't do it I think you will regret it. Do it so you can just get it over with even...

Well, here you are online telling thousands of people that there may be something wrong with you, so that's a start! I would say listen to your mother and go to the therapy sessions. They can't hurt. Mother usually does know best. Best of luck!

You need to go. You think that's embarrassing? You'd be even more embarassed if your voices lead to you doing something horrible. Where would you rather be? In therapy or in prison?

You do know that whatever you say between a therapist and you stays confidential, unless you are a threat to you or others. You should seek help. Don't worry about what others thing. Go, there's nothing wrong with getting help.
