well basically its supposed to be an index used to check if your weight is in proportion with your height...its calculated by dividing your weight by square of your height..based on your bmi you can check if your overweight or not....not the best and accurate method though...

Body Mass Index...
Weight divided by height..
Not a very accurate way of measuring how fat you are..
Many athletes are considered overweight & obese by this index..
