Oh man! That used to scare the s#it out of me when I was little. My dad is a really big guy and build like a brick, sh#t house. I never, ever wanted to make him mad. But, as I got older, I realized that it wasn't my dad I had to worry about, it was my mom. Then, there was no anticipatory fear, just head on scared crapless. I can laugh about it now. But back then, no way!

My mother never told my siblings and I that. She considered that as a way to make us fear our father who loved us very much. She took care of things and I don't know that she told my father, he never mentioned the things we had done wrong.

My mom never used that line on us. We only wished she would "wait til our dad got home!" I had five brothers all over 6 ft tall and my little 5 ft mom would drop them like a rock without even thinking twice! We were just wishing my dad would get home so he could save our ***-es!!

Wow just reading that put a chill up and down my spine. Usually when I heard that I either hid in my closet or up in the barn loft.

It never put fear into me or my brother. What it did do is undermined our respect for our mother's authority. We didn't think we needed to obey her in anything because she passed the buck to our dad all the time.
