No, she is not being groomed. She is not a career politician and her fund raising abilities have not been tested. A national party won't risk a run without having politician who knows how things work "on the hill", meaning that the politicians main function is crafting designer legislation to thank the donors to the national political parties.

An equally inportant function of the presidential candidate, for either party, is being able to raise funds for the national party committee. If you can't bring money to the party they won't invest in getting you elected.

You could see her enter the GOP primaries for 2008, but instead I am thinking her name will be mentioned from day one as a possible VP.

She's the Secretary of State and yes there are those who want her to run.

She'd certainly be one of the smartest in a while, the first with a PhD since "Woodie" Woodrow Wilson, liberals wouldnot be able to assail her intelligence just because they merely disagree with her on point.

She's black and a woman, well being a conservative Republican from Alabama kinda counters those elcetoral difficulties. Blacks and women generally do better as Republicans because people expect them only to be Democrats and radical ones at that blaming society for their own group and or personal shortcomings. Such is the case with Democratic senator Barak Obama, he's no radical, but being black and Democratic makes him easy to tar as a barely reconstructed "hate whitey" type.

Condi could be a good president, like most solid conservatives, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rove and Richard Pearl, the left has so besmirched her name that its looking more and more like a new brand of "Rockafeller Republicans", like Rudy, McCain, Powell etc might be the best hope for the GOP in '08.

Um, you mean Secretary of State, don't you? Donald Rumsfeld is the US Secretary of Defense.

I really like Connie Rice, but I don't think she's Presidential material. At least not yet--ask me again in 2012!

Well, you've been told about her present job. I don't know about the constant threat of terrorism. Bush tells you the world has become safer, although an intelligence report in his possession tells him his Iraq war has sprung a new generation of potential suicide bombers.
Perhaps ms Rice gets a chance after ms Clinton has proven that the USA are prepared to have a female president.
In the mean time develop a new national sport: Bush bashing!

Dr. Rice is the 66th Sec. of State and formerly National Security Adviser. She is not, nor has very been Sec. of Defense.

I doubt she is being groomed for the Presidency since she is not married. I think being a woman, black, and unmarried will not sit well with most of the voters.

I think she is being groomed for it by the Republican party. That does not mean that she will run. I don't think that she will run as long as the war in Iraq is going on but maybe in 4 or 8 years.

Maybe so, but I think Condoleeza Rice sounds like something being prepared for my dinner plate.

I'd vote for her.

No, I don't think she is being groomed for the Presidency. She has said in the past that she has absolutely no interest in running for president and I believe her. She wants to pursue other interests when her job as SOS is done.

Hillary Clinton is in the forefront for this coveted job. Rice has denied she in any way seeking the post and there is no story to this effect.

This is a good question.
It wouldn't surprise me a bit, if she is being groomed to 'run'.
The next election is going to be a real throw-down. I am looking forward to it.
NOTHING would surprise me.
