I mean, where to men get off thinking they can have more than one wife? If that's the case, then why can't women have more than one husband?

I like your question. Yes it is a pile of crap. For one God's Word and Christianity were fine. But Satan himself aka the angel of light aka Moroni who supposedly appeared to Joseph Smith told him it was all wrong, was going to redo the religion, the bible aka the book of mormon, and put it on golden tablets. What a pile of horse crap. For one if they want to prove it's real then get the golden tablets. Show me evidence of your dead and gone actually showing up in Heaven fully believing the Joseph Smith and Brigham Young crap. Explain what really goes on in your temple in Salt Lake City, UT and why the hyrogliphics are on the wall. Also why you never see a cross in any mormon church. Why you dissobeyed what was said in the Revelation of John where it says not to add to or take from the Bible not just that one book but the entire Bible from Genesis all the way to Revelations and everything in between. Why do you say God was wrong but Joseph was right? What's with you people you think you obtain Heaven or what you call your own planets with numerous wives who never cease to bear children by good works? Wrong. Read the Bible again. Also poligamy is illegal not only by mans laws but it's against the laws of God. Somewhere in the Old Testament it says some thing along the lines of one wife to one man. Also God's Word has been translated into almost every language and tongue on earth but never rewritten. What's the deal with the book of mormon? It's got like 12 different rewritten versions. Sounds like this "cult" is the most deceptive caniving piece of crap excuse for a religion let alone a christian one I've ever heard of or researched. To bear the name Christian one must be one and not argue with or add to or take from the Word of God period. They wear the name Christian to cover up what is really going on here. A bunch of blind and decieved people Hell bound in a hand basket.

I agree with you that's it's a double standard for men to be able to have multiple wives, if women can't have multiple husbands.

Very few Mormons actually have more than one wife today, though. But yes, if you study Mormonism's roots, you will find all kinds of problems. This is true of pretty much any religion, though.

Just look at the Old Testament. Having multiple wives and concubines is pretty much the norm in those days. Even Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. I think he was on to something! LOL. ;)

Just you wait though. The future will bring new challenges to our moral thinking. And I'm not talking about gay marriage. In 15 years, lonely people will be developing relationships with "virtual assistants" (machines or personalities in a virtual reality that are extremely life-like). And in 30 years, biological advances might allow us to keep our bodies "young" and to "live forever", which is really gonna throw a kink into marriages! ("When I said 'til death do us part, I was only assuming we were gonna live 75 years!") And in 100 years, we'll be half-human, half-machine, and things will get really gray then.

But focusing specifically on Mormons... there are plenty of things to make fun of about Mormons besides their polygamy history. They don't drink caffiene. They don't see R-rated movies.

But they have some cool things about their religion, too. If you ever see a Mormon wearing a ring that says "CTR", it stands for "Choose the Right".

I usually try not to judge a church until I've been to their services a few times first. By the way, Mormons like to be called LDS, nor Mormon.

I'm not Mormon, but I know a few, and they are mostly good and cool people.

But if you ever see a Mormon with multiple wives, and if they think women can't have multiple husbands, then slap them for me! :)

I think that poligamy is bullshit...I think that is more the quesion you need to ask. I don't get the rationalism behind it, and I don't think it's right. You make a very valid point about women not being able to, not that it should even be an issue at all, but it's a huge double standard. I'm not educated enough on the the mormon religion to argue past poligamy. I'm not a mormon, but I would advise that you be careful of knocking a whole religion simply because of one aspect of it.

Actually, mainstream Mormonism gave up plural marriage 100 or so years ago, so you need to do a little up-to-date research.

And since most people think any religion that is not their own is bullsh!t, your question is really moot isn't it?

Proud Pagan!

well well, another LDS expert.
You should look at the Bible before you screaming about LDS having more than one wife.
Besides, LDS do not practice it for more than 100 years. So your accusation is not valid at all.

One more note, taking care of two wives is better than abandoning any wife, like most men do nowadays, just my personal opinion.

Please, if you're going to knock on my church, knock on something that's actually accurate. Any member of my church found practicing polygamy is excommunicated (the harshest punishment the church can give). There are some fringe guys out there, who have been excommunicated for this, that still claim to be members, but they are not.

Thanks
