People have been reading the Bible for ages. It has achieved a status in our culture assigned to no other single body of text. There are more copies of the Bible on the face of the planet than any other single book. It is quoted (and misquoted) more often than any other book. It is translated into more languages than any other book ever written as well. More people in recorded history have read it, studied it, taught it, admired it, argued about it, loved it, lived by it, and killed and died for it. It is the singular document at the heart of Judaism and Christianity, and yet the common man doesn’t really seem to ever ask: Who wrote it, really? They think they know: it is divinely dictated, revealed or inspired

The Holy Scriptures are not the private interpretation of men (2 Pe.1:20 below), but they are given by God through the Holy Spirit.

ALL Scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Pe.1:21, 2 Tim.3:16, 2 Samuel 23:2, Eph.3:5 below).

God’s word is true from the beginning (Ps.119:160 below).

God is the God of truth (Ps.31:5, Deut.32:4, Ps.25:5, Jn.17:17 below).

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim.3:16 below).

The spirit of Truth will guide you into all truth (Jn.16:13 below)

If a religious author’s writings do not speak according to the Holy Bible, there is no light in them (Isa.8:20 below).

2 Pe.1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

2 Pe.1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Tim.3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me (David), and his word [was] in my tongue.

Eph.3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Ps.119.160Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Ps.31:5 Into Thine hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

Deut. 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are judgment, a God of truth and without iniquity; just and right is He.

Ps.25:5Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day.

Jn.17:17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2 Tim.3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Jn.16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Isa.8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.

"...a consortium of writers spread across time."
p.88, How the Bible Came to Be
by John Barton

The majority of the Bible is anonymous, with the few exceptions of the letters or epistles of Paul (and there's a lot of debate about how many of those were actually written by him). Certain books like Proberbs may have existed as oral traditions, which were "created" as original ideas hundred of years before they were "written" on paper. Even collecting the bible can be a creative editing process.

The Bible can be easily compared to a research paper. A person takes the existing works of experts in that field. He then arranges them within the paper, either word-for-word or paraphrased, and then mixes them in with his own ideas. He has then built a slightly new idea from the writings and ideas of the people before him. If this new paper is good enough, it'll be used as a source for someone else's paper later.

As for who *exactly* wrote the Bible, I can't tell you, because nobody knows. Otherwise, it was written, collected and edited by a large community over hundreds of years. The best part is that the Bible is still in flux today. Just go look at the wall of Bible versions at your local Borders.

no man or woman man or woman wrote the Bible. it really is a compilation of books written through many diverse authors. a number of the books themselves are probable compilations written through many diverse authors (Genesis and Exodus, as an celebration). some trust Moses wrote the first 5 books, yet it truly is maximum likely legend for the reason that writing variety, vocabulary, and grammar fluctuate in the textual content. also, there are problems with persevering with good judgment throughout the time of, which betrays the chance that the first 5 books of the Bible were written through many diverse palms. the recent testomony changed into also written through many diverse human beings, maximum likely in the course of the first century. in spite of the indisputable fact that, no man or woman has get entry to to the unique records, we only have copies of copies of copies of copies. each and each of those copies are diverse circuitously, so it isn't conceivable to pin down precisely what the unique textual content says. we are able to easily approximate what the unique textual content suggested. So, in a experience, the Bible changed into 'corrupted' through the years of its written transmission through careless or theologically prompted scribes. If God did certainly inspire the Bible, why did not God then preserve the unique records so as that shall we understand what they suggested? My droop is that those are very human records, written through those with their own theological, social, and cultural biases. those texts, for my section, do aspect to God, yet they weren't authored through God. only my opinion although. wish this enables somewhat.

The Bible was written by 40 different authors who were divinely inspired by God. It was written over a 1600 year time span, and the authors lived on three different continents.
In spite of the vast differences of each author, the Bible carries one central theme about Jesus Christ.

Um, first, the Bible is not the core of Judism. The Torah is.

Secondly, it was written by men, inspired by lunacy or political motivation.

All scripture is inspired by God..."

"Holy men of God spake as they were moved upon by The Holy Ghost"

I'm amazed at how many fools try to discredit the bible; It is usually the ones who haven't even had the courage to READ IT....

Not only did God Himself inspire man to write but He also preserved it for man to be reproved with.

the more important thing to understand is who compiled it, and what were the social and political things going on at that time that influenced what made it in, and what did not?
