Why bother?
If it is important, they will contact you directly!

You probably can't. I'm on the Do Not Call Registry, but some sources are exclusive. I've made dozens of complaints to the FTC with no resolution. I don't know how this works with the UK.
Try to find a link that can help you. Most of my calls hang up & don't even give me an option to call back (which seems to be what you're experiencing). Obviously, telemarketers won't hang up! Greatest empathy for you--all I can suggest is for you to find a resource that will HELP. Good luck!

Have you tried phoning the number from another phone so the caller will not conect you with the call.

Have a friend call the number leaving the message that they have won £1000 and where can they send the money.

Try entering the phone number into Google. It works in US and should also in UK

If it is a private number not really.

But for businesses it is possible. Try looking it up in the yellow pages or even in a search engine.

You can find out the area it came from by looking at the code and looking in your directory/
You will then know if you have any contacts in that area.
