What each body needs is different, also people with insomnia often do not reach the deepest stages of sleep and this may be why you need more than the normal. I have insomnia too and I have recently started taking vitamin B-12 and it seems to be helping me sleep. You might try it.

It's not normal, but I'm the same way. I have insomnia, too. I need to get 12 hrs in order to feel my best. If I only got 8 hours like you're supposed to, I'd feel like I just went to bed.

Your body is trying to make up for the lost sleep. 12 hours would be too much. Do you work?

It's not abnormal, some people require more sleep than others to feel totally rested.
