Turn on some rap or hip-hop on your stereo, always the same song everyday, over and over, before he gets home. Put it in the lounge, and take it around home with you.

haha. You should sing along with him, but another song, and make sure you sing as horribly and you can so you can annoy the heck out of him. It'll drive him insane, and if he still doesn't stop, tell him you love him dearly, but you need some independent time to yourself, without him SINGING all day long in yourself.

Maybe he is singing it for a reason. Have you really listened to the lyrics of this great song?
I'm with your father on this one. Your father is a good man and has a heart of gold.
So...
Don't go riding on that Long Black Train.

My dad just passed away two months ago, and I would give anything to hear hear his voice again, really. Just sit, back, laugh and realize, he wont be here forever. Hug him and slow dance with him, and remember, he loves you and you love him, and he is there visiting you every day, and that must mean that there is no where else in the world he would rather be than with you. Share with him how much you love him and let him sing his heart out. I would even record him singing alone, and then request him to sing it with me, for my memories so that when he passes you will always have that as "your" song with your dad....

If it makes him happy let him sing, if its the song you don't like tell him Dad you have a awesome voice would you sing ( whatever) for me. Because when you were little I bet he listened to all your songs you sang. Just love him while you got him, someday you would give anything to hear him sing the long black train, trust me.

Take a deep breath and remind yourself that you won't have him around forever and that one day you will sorely miss hearing that cruddy old song as he walks in the door.
Let the man sing whatever he wants to sing in his old age. Don't take that small joy away from him. Smile, hug him, tell him you love him and think to yourself that one day you will be old and have your own annoying habits.

I feel for you. When my husband starts humming I think I am going to climb the walls (he always gets booed off the stage when we play xbox Karaoke) I like the idea of joining in (poorly) then maybe he won't want to hear your singing and shut up.

My dad used to sing My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, badly. Now that he's gone that's one of my favorite memories of him. You're not going to have your dad forever either. Let him have his little eccentricities. And maybe give him a Willie Nelson CD.

Tell him you love it when Josh Turner sings that song, but him not so much.
