what is it about marriage that freaks you out?
if you're not worried about commitment, then I don't see what the problem is.

Marriage is a big step. You should only take the plunge if you are really sure about it. Oprah said "doubt means don't" and I agree. If you don't believe something as important as this fully, you shouldn't go through with it. Don't be afraid to lose him. Talk to him about your feelings. If he can't understand what your feeling, he really isn't the man of your dreams. You don't have to be married to have a long, happy relationship with someone. There are plenty of couples out there who don't think marriage is necessary to live a lhealth life with someone. Good luck!

I think your fear is totally natural. If you are going to spend the rest of your life with this guy, you want to make sure he is the right one. Take your time. Someone mentioned a long engagement. It is such a great idea. Long engagements give you time to get to know the person better and to give the relationship a feeling of normalcy.
Good luck.

You are not alone. It is a natural feeling. Say yes and stay engaged for a long time. That way you will really get to know him before you get married. If he is the man of your dreams then do not let him go.

i think that if you love him, that things wont be any different when your married other than your last name changing and being commited leagally. i mean i know that marriage isnt for everyone and if it worrys you this much, you should talk. but if he is the man of your dreams and you want to spend the rest of your life with him, maybe you could talk it. love is all about sarcafice and being there for one another. Sit down with him and talk and im sure you will find the answer! Talking is all you can do! :)
Best of luck sweeat heart! (sorry if i babled)! LOL

Think LONG engagement. Just because he proposes, and you say yes... doesn't mean you have to marry him next month.
Our engagement took 22 months... due to financial issues and my nerves too. It's a big step... and should'nt be rushed. Do what makes you feel comfortable and the rest will land into place as well.
Good luck

I'm religoius and believe in marriage, but once upon a time marriage was simply a vow expressed between two people aloud.
There are pros and cons.
A marriage is a legal partnership. When one goes belly under both go belly under and have to file jointly for bankruptcy.
One can generally endorse the check for another.
When you change your name it costs money to change all your documents and if it ends in divorce it costs money and takes time to change them all back.
One the upside if divorce happens you can go to court and get division of property, spousal support, child support. Not as easy when not married. There is no legal commitement.
This the practical and unpractical side of marriage.
No one with stars in their eyes wants to view realities, but we live in a No Fault Divorce world.

You don talk am. You say he's the man of your dreams. Go ahead then. There could be something else on your mind that you aren't opening up about but based on these you've said you're good to do (go)
