Isn't it interesting that there seemed to be a lot of "demonic possession" in biblical times, but there isn't any more today? Hmm, perhaps it's because we now recognize mental illnesses and brain disorders as medical conditions, and we're not ignorant like those in biblical times about how things really work. Anything "bad" that happened to somebody, like leprosy or mental illness, was considered by our ignorant ancestors to be "a curse from the devil" or "demonic possession." We're smarter than that now...oh, well, at least *some* of us are smarter than that. Apparently there are still quite a few ignorant people among us. Sad.

I have to disagree with friend Alysson. Christians don't use possession to excuse bad actions. Those who may, are not true Christians.

We are all responsible for our actions. If one IS possessed, then one invited the demon in to begin with. So guilty guilty guilty.

Yes, I believe in possession. The whole Hollywood version of The Exorcist or the Emily Rose story are extremes. Rarely does any possession make such an outward manifestation. In the case where it does, the "target" is not the person possessed, but the exorcist himself.

For instance the Exorcist case. Fr. Bowdern went on to be instrumental in desegregation of the Catholic Church. The possession case was an attempt by demons of hate to ruin his faith. Thus he would not act on what he knew to be wrong. Bigotry. The interesting part is that the bishop who allowed the exorcism was also key to desegregation of the church. The two met while preparing for the exorcism.

I was once possessed by like 12 or 13 demons. YOu shouldn't have to go where I've been.

I believe the mind is a very powerful thing. I believe that anybody can convince themselves, or be convinced by an outside source, to believe something to the point it can become "real", at least to them. REAL demon possession? No.

I think there is. I feel God fills us with the Holy Spirit. The devil HATES this, so, he tries to take over our bodies. There is so much in the bible that talks of demonic possesions.
I believe in the bible and what it says.

Probably weren't demons, but what we call mental illness. To them they really were "demons" just like "mental illness" is to us. The fact of the matter is, something caused these people to act strange, and without any physical proof, people turned to the "supernatural" when things couldn't be explained. Jesus probably in our terms healed people of mental illnesses. Although I believe demons exist!

Yes.

I have not personally witnessed it--not that I know of. But I do believe it.

As someone here mentioned, Jesus cast out demons from people.

I myself have felt the presence of demons in the spiritual realm (for lack of a better term).
